Finished as a pro footballer? TBH I never thought he actually started......Seen plenty of players playing semi pro football who could have made it big but preferred the pub and messing around with their mates. MJ fits that type of person.

I once had a conversation with a mate of mine who used to be a very proficient 1500m athlete who said that the fastest 100m runner in the world in terms of ability was probably sat on a sofa watching tv and eating Doritos. So much about succeeding in sport is about desire and going the extra mile, if you'll excuse the pun.

So true if you know what you want to do and focus you'll get there. shame about johno the game against liverpool at home he had gerard in his pocket and looked the best player I've seen at city since paul lake, what a waste but i'm sure he's found it harder than us watching.

If you kill drunk driving you should get maximum sentence for manslaughter imo.

If you cripple them you shouldn't get much less, none of this 3 years bollocks that Lee Hughes served after needing to only serve half of a 6 year sentence for KILLING someone, but as he's in a car that suddenly makes it better than him just smacking him over the head with a brick or summit.
I don't disagree, but I don't think the car is the issue, its the crime that you are convicted of, and the circumstances of the cause that matter. Drivers in this situation usually get the biggest sentence for death by dangerous driving (whilst under the influence of drink), as opposed to drink driving. When they "get out" is more an issue of the legal system, where you get rewarded for being a good boy inside.

Plymouth keeper Luke McCormick killed two in 2008, and will be released next month, he was also doing nearly a ton, whilst drunk, he was given 7 years and 4 months.

All of this is getting off the MJ topic though, not yet even charged, though I suspect that will be the most likely outcome.

it really isn't looking good for him.

many promising footballers drop away and 'fail', for various reasons. paul lake is one of them, but the difference with him is that he has made a successful career for himself from being determined and focussed on another aspect of football.

johnson could easily have retired at 22/23/24 whatever he is, picked up physiotherapy or another profession in the football industry and still made a good career for himself, perhaps even working at city in the future (exactly paul lake's role), but it seems getting pissed is his sole motivation.

unfortunately a future of alcoholism, crime, bankruptcy and possibly early death is on the cards at this rate

Really ?

He is a young lad who had the world literally at his feet and was coveted by all the top clubs when we were still shit.Imagine his frustration at suffering injury after injury, all that time on his hands and money to burn, trying to get his body to do the brilliant things he did before and breaking down yet again.

Nobody more than him realises what he has lost through injury, the drink and the other stuff is a result of that mental frustration and regret. Some of the oh so righteous claptrap spouted on here is pathetic.

Not as pathetic as getting behind the wheel whilst allegedly over the limit though. And if that is self righteous, so be it.

for me it's stupid and a pet hate of mine, if you drive drunk you have intent to break the law and even if you don't mean to kill someone for me you were prepared to take the risk when setting off knowing you were in no fit state to so should get the top whack in manslaughter.

not this couple of years and out like Lee "The ****" Hughes.

Every sympathy for your view, but hand on heart tell me you've never been speeding?

Do you think a father whose son or daughter's just been killed will feel any different when he discovers you were doing 40 in a 30 zone?
We all do stupid things and manage (for the large part) to get away with it... but some aren't so lucky.

Drink driving is stupid. But so is speeding really, or using your mobile in the car etc etc.
VERY few of us are able to say we've never done similar.
That's really a totally ridiculous argument, doing 40 in a 30 is not the same as driving drunk in any way. People doing 40 in a 30 zone don't usually kill sons or daughters. Drunk drivers do. Do you go around drunk driving and is that why you are so defensive about it? Sheesh.

People doing 40 in a 30 zone don't usually kill sons or daughters

Really? do you REALLY believe that?
Let me correct your false assumption.

When someone speeds they increase the risk of killing someone - this is an undisputed fact.

More deaths are caused on the road from speed related offences than drunk drivers - another undisputed fact.

Drink drivers are morons.
Speeding drivers are morons. And I've broken the speed limit like many others. I've been lucky, nobody got hurt, but if someone had, and I was told "if you'd been doing 30 like you're supposed to, they might have survived" how would I feel then?

A drink drivers makes a wrong decision because he thinks he's still capable, and will be extra careful (but we all know he's a liability).
It's EXACTLY the same with a speeding driver.
Both are playing with 'odds'.

- If you hit someone at 40mph vs 30mph, their risk of death is FOUR times as likely.

- Around 430 people a year are killed in crashes in which someone exceeds the speed limit or drives too fast for the conditions.

- Around 250 people die a year in crashes in which someone was over the legal drink drive limit.

When you want to come back with FACTS, I'll listen.
When you want to read what I type, I'll listen.

Drink Driving is moronic.

But we can ALL do moronic things sometimes. It's not defending drink driving.

the club(man city)should the end it by giving him his p45 right now

we have done everything for him and still does not have a brain or think about what happing in his life
many would give there right arm to get a chance at that level even half of what johnson has had even 1 game for man city

but pissing it up and clubing and what ever else they do make's me sick
