Irelands demise was the sale of Robinho, them too was on the same wave length and complimented each other brilliantly, was never the same player after Robinho left

I've read some delusion in my time on blue moon but that's a frank Carson double whopper with cheese!!!

I wouldn't say it is that laughable.

In the scheme of things, Robinho is nowhere near the sort of sublime talent that he is sometimes painted as. In fact, given what he has actually achieved in his career (and I don't mean names on a CV or transfer fees) it is not unlikely that an average player like Ireland would be on the same wavelength. Robinho has generally been shit, a disappointment and a bench warmer at every European club he's played at.

Just so we're being clear, Stephen Ireland is of the same casting as robinho? Is that correct?

The reason he is a benchwarmer is because of desire, not lack of talent or ability, he simply had to much to soon, Ireland on the other hand never was and never will be that calibre of player, even on his best day!!![/quote]

Christ! what have i started LoL ...i wasn't suggesting Ireland is of the same calibre as Robinho, just that they linked up very well like the wonder pass Ireland did for Robinho's goal away at Hamburg or the way the two linked up well away at Everton like thay did in many games, Robbie made Ireland look a better player

Probably not. But Ireland is tapped in the head too.

His natural ability and natural vision is, in my view, better than most run of the mill Premier League up and down midfielders. He has lots of other deficiencies though.

Robinho has plenty of tricks and an ability to, if you like, think outside the box on the pitch.

But he is also severely limited as an effective footballer.

As an example, Robinho is far, far more skillful than, say, Arteta. But Arteta is far, far more effective, both creatively and in other areas, than the Brazilian.

Would it be outlandish to suggest that Ireland could be on the same wavelength as Arteta. I doubt it. But Arteta has much more of an ability to craft and mould the shape of a match than the show pony.

If anything, Robinho does not have an ability to genuinely and consistently get on the same wavelength as players who are proven quality, effective footballers. (And neither does Ireland imo)

johnson could'nt handle being injured and unable to train, he has been unlucky with that and he wouldnt be the first young footballer to struggle.
That said what a fuckin agent he must have! I can imagine him strolling into training and mancini asking who the fuck are you? he would reply "woz player".
"woz fucking not..." and so on in a comedy fashion.

He's right. Robinho had a big hand in getting some form out of the softhead

Sure, but any player gets better service next to a world class talent...

I dont want to be harsh on the kid, but you get a guy like lakey that nearly bent his leg the wrong way while tryna get back into football and then you have johnson who, from the looks of it gave up. In fairness to him, everyone deals with things differently and depression is a chemical inbalance that will fuck up the toughest person. Maybe its another lesson city have to learn to ensure these kids who dedicate their lives to the sport and know fuck all out of it, have a strong support network in and out of the club. Weve lost a good potential player and a shit load of money.

Not a lot of sympathy from me, I'm sure City would have given him all the support he would need to lose weight and get fitness back to at least a lower league level.

He will hate himself in years to come for wasting his big chance.

Me too.

Even my [scouse] wife rated him and wonders how that talented, fresh-faced young boy turned into Beach Ball 'Ed [her words].

He went from looking like Jay from the Inbetweeners to Pogo Patterson from Grange Hill. There's no way back into football for him now I fear. Good luck MJ.
