Firstly because it would have been terrible for an innocent man to be convicted of such a serious crime.
Secondly because I look forward to seeing him walking down Hale high street again with his amusing, slightly cocky 'I'm famous' swagger.
And thirdly I remember seeing him cycling the lanes of Cheshire alone practising for a charity bike ride.
You're pleased he's not guilty because you like seeing him walk down the road? Righto.

While I agree with you that it's a bit classless, I can hardly blame the guy for having a bit of a chip on his shoulder after being dragged through a trial for something he hasn't done. Can you?
Never trust a man with short arms and long sleeves.peoffrey said:mike1923 said:peoffrey said:It strikes me as being deeply classless on his part. He should've got out of there immediately and away from the public eye. Instead a self-confessed alcoholic goes drinking.

Can you imagine what state he's in now if he's still drinking since he became free to go? He's also frequently cheated on his Wife despite having Children with her. Why is he still down the Pub every night? There's having a chip on your shoulder and then there's having no self control.
Besides, he's been found not guilty and hasn't been found innocent. There's so much we don't know here.
A double whammy of self righteousness and gratuitous use of that appalling word "classless". The perfect storm for a shit post.peoffrey said:It strikes me as being deeply classless on his part. You must be a right laugh down that wine bar you frequent.

I'm not sure any newspaper or magazine would be able to print anything she'd be interested in saying without been libellous.
Her experience of the Court process with an explicit lack of reference to the allegations would be a good two page spread in any Sunday tabloid.
bloody hell. What a shit, Can we know this girl's name? She needs a proper head caving.warpig said:johnny on the spot said:SiWatts90 said:I find the whole subject of rape extremely hard to deal with as I lost a very good and decent friend because of a rape accusation. i've touched on it before in another thread but a lad I went to school with, gets dragged out of his workplace infront of everyone as his ex accused him of raping her when they had just split up.
Now, from the get go I believed him but many of our friend group didn't and turned on him, as did some members of his family. He got found guilty in court and sent down. He lasted 10 months in prison, his appeal wasn't successful, he took his life a week after as he couldn't face people thinking so badly of him, i've seen the letter he left for his mum and dad and his ex who made the allegations.
A year or so after his death the same girl who I also went to school with cried rape again, this girl wasn't the cleverest and on a drunken night out laughed about what had happened to my mate Sam and this other lad, explaining she made the whole thing up for attention, failing to realise she was chatting a copper up who was on a night out.
She is now in prison for perverting the course of justice, she got 15 months..
Not the same as a suspected pedophile but I will always be wary of knowing all facts before making a decision about anyones guilt.
That's fucking evil.
indeed it is. what a truly disturbing story.

Could be interesting. Maybe the girl in question is related in some way.

Can't see what your problem is mate.
I'm pleased he's innocent which means a young girl was not the victim of a crime and an innocent man is not going to jail.
I like seeing the man out and about in Hale because of his amusingly cocky swagger.
And he is a cyclist.
What's your problem with him?

I'm sure both of them would've made a better job of his cuffs.mcmanus said:Gaylord du Bois said:His choice in taylor.urmston said:Can't see what your problem is mate.

mammutly said:Shocking damage to his life and reputation which, notwithstanding the verdict, can never be fully repaired.
From what I know of the girl's testimony, it lacked credibility. Having spoken to many victims of abuse, I know there is usually more corroborating detail in genuine accounts - time, context, environment etc. During trauma the mind fixes on small details.
As has been suggested previously, the verdict is not proof of innocence, rather that there wasn't sufficient evidence to convict beyond reasonable doubt. There will be many people who still believe that he did it. That's a blatant injustice of the system - the accused gets a a reputational sentence even if they're innocent.
Y unlikely? how else would there be any kind of evidence (made up or not) for a grown man to have access to a young girl time after time? I don't believe for 1 second he's guilty, but surely has to be a relative/close friends kid?andyhinch said:Very unlikelyTuearts right boot said:mammutly said:Her experience of the Court process with an explicit lack of reference to the allegations would be a good two page spread in any Sunday tabloid.
