Michael Oliver to ref Liverpool v City - City lodge complaint

I think Oliver was just a coward today. He didn't want the game to be decided by a refereeing decision, so he refused to make one even when one clearly needed to be made.
All day this ! The perfect foil for the corrupt use of var & not over ruling refs decisions. I fear so much for the game we all love & were brought up on .

He got the first handball wrong today...and he was right there as wel perfectly placed to see it.

What do you mean it was a pen? I think everyone needs to take a step back and understand the rules. It's a handball if it strikes an attacking players arm in the box regardless whether it was unintentional. Even if VAR would have brought the play back, a penalty would 100% not have been given due to a change in the law. That's a fact.
You clearly don't understand the handball rule. As MOTD reported, the refs association said Silva's handball was accidental and didn't lead to a goal etc so didn't cone into the assessment re penalty. They didn't give a pen because they said his arm was in a natural position. No it wasn't!

I think City should have had a penalty for the first Arnold handball. However to class his as an ‘attacking’ player in the build up to their goal and disallow it on the strength of that, seems a stretch. They would have to disallow the goal as he is classed as a striker but not give the goal as in their view it’s not enough for a defender to give away a penalty

City penalty. Ends the conversation but once that wasn’t going to happen you can hardly call the handball ‘build up’

Mate, it was never going to be given because of the changes to the law. Even if Liverpool hadn't have scored VAR wouldn't have given it because it deflected off Silva arm onto Trents. Clattenburg even explains it here

Just saw two very interesting things on Twitter:

1- IF i wasn't given because Bernardo handballed it first, play should have been brought back for a free-kick after VAR (because playing advantage it would have been a pen).

2- If it wasn't given because it was unintentional then their goal should have been disallowed for handball leading to a goal!

Stop the world I'm getting off.

It occurs to me that Fabinho's goal was set up by a City player under little pressure passed the ball directly to Fabinho. Going any further back than that would be pretty silly.

And said it remarkably quickly too. Unusual.
