Michael Oliver to ref Liverpool v City - City lodge complaint

You clearly don't understand the handball rule. As MOTD reported, the refs association said Silva's handball was accidental and didn't lead to a goal etc so didn't cone into the assessment re penalty. They didn't give a pen because they said his arm was in a natural position. No it wasn't!
This is where the whole thing gets ridiculous though. Say we get a penalty and Aguero scores it, does that then get disallowed because the player winning the penalty used an arm? Because let's be honest, if the principle is that any handball leading to a goal should rule out the goal, then that should include handling it on the way to winning a penalty. AFAIK, there's nothing in the rules that says this though.

I'm just waiting for the next time our defenders have an arm in a similarly "natural position" and the inevitable penalty that will follow.

Mate, it was never going to be given because of the changes to the law. Even if Liverpool hadn't have scored VAR wouldn't have given it because it deflected off Silva arm onto Trents. Clattenburg even explains it here

I read it on the Mail online earlier. I disagree with it - it hit B.Silva’s arm as he was falling I.e accidental, whereas Arnold knew exactly what he was doing

As for Clattenburg, the man which denied us a clear pen at Old Trafford because he’d already sent Evans off. He’s another **** who’s only interested in feathering his own nest

It occurs to me that Fabinho's goal was set up by a City player under little pressure passed the ball directly to Fabinho. Going any further back than that would be pretty silly.
Did you see how far they went back for the Sheff U goal yesterday? What would have happened if TAA had smashed the ball clear, it took a big bounce over the keeper and into the net?

It doesn't matter if it's accidental. That's the law. A penalty was never going to be given

VAR cannot undo restarted play. So if Aguero is allowed to take the penalty, there is no takeback. It's why refs are seen stopping restarts.

He doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

1- The new rule is regards to goals. City would have been awarded a set piece.

2- If they don’t give it because of handball against Silva then they have to bring back play for a free kick to Liverpool in their box (they can’t play advantage because that would still be a penalty).

Any comparison with a hypothetical situation is fairly meaningless.

No, I’m asking in general. If the ref and VAR decide that it’s not a pen, but that play directly sets up a goal at the other end, what’s the outcome?

Do you get the feeling they haven’t fully thought out some of their ‘new’ rules?

And has anyone seen any clear evidence of Silva handling it?

There seems to be (this season) three teams who've greatly benefited from the complete clusterfuck of VAR use by these unqualified refs.

I can't think of as to why the three teams have so greatly benefited from it. Two of them (despite being self appointed "biggest teams in the world") don't even have screens in the stadium to facilitate VAR replays...

Those teams are.. Spurs, United and Liverpool.
