Middle East Conflict (merged)

Mate. This is a forum. People have differing opinions and this is an emotive subject. Get over it.
In the past when we've had differing opinions, I've solidly had deep respects for your viewpoint no matter how much we may have differed. You'd always open up my avenues of thought with salient insight.

You started with insults before and it was weird to read you thinking I'm right winged in any sense of the word.

So be it. I'll 'get over it' in time when I get past my disappointment.

I don't want to derail this thread but your views on the US Presidential election were contrary, to say the least. If you weren't an outright cheerleader for Trump, you seemed to be suggesting that Biden was no better, if not worse. I thought you were being a bit stupid to be honest but you had a right to express your view, as contrary as it was. I didn't agree with you but didn't take it personally.

Can I just say, regardless of whose land it was/is/once was 100s of years ago, there's men, women and children living peacefully in Palestine and being systematically pushed out of their homes to make way for Israel settlers. This is the crux of the modern issue.

Now if you can stop that you might bring a bit of humanity back to the region. Doesn't mean Hamas will disappear overnight because they are extremists who have a deep set hatred for the Israelis. Equally there's an extreme section of Israeli society which wants to eradicate Arabs from their land too. However, all too many times the Isreali government doesn't lead by example and show humanity themselves. The Palestinian state doesn't exist so they don't have the power to do this - not that Hamas would. We need real International pressure to protect the Palestinian people.

That's putting it mildly. Are we really surprised that at a time that Netanyahu is struggling to form a government, he suddenly starts a war? Sorry, a conflict.

An example that really highlights what you're talking about was a picture of a man, born and bred in America, who had spent a year in Israel and believed he had the right to forcefully kick out someone whose family had lived there for at least a few generations. In fact a Jewish friend of mine on Facebook pointed out the disingenuous nature of his "right to return" (he's never been there) being placed above the rights of people who've lived there for decades. This isn't just an argument between people who've both lived somewhere for ages and had a tense relationship, this is an argument between someone who wants to continue living somewhere they've lived for decades, and someone who wants to kick them out to make room for someone who's never even set foot in the country.

Conflict? I’d call it ethnic cleansing in order to takeover more land.
Nah, we can't blame anyone.

The building exploded.
A conflict started.
200 people have died.

Things just happen by themselves, apparently.

This is a great one from the BBC.

"Dozens of children have been killed on both sides."

Actually dozens of children have been killed on one side. Two children have been killed on the other. Obviously any children killed is a tragedy, but there are so many examples of this false equivalence and verbs choices that obfuscate blame from certain sections of the media on this.

US President Joe Biden has told Israel's prime minister that he expects to see a significant de-escalation in its conflict with Hamas today.

Nice to have a proper President at the seat
