Middle East Conflict

I still can’t get over that grant Schapps interview.

He attacked the BBC for following OFCOM rules (so presumably he didn’t know the OFCOM rules)

He couldn’t pronounce Hamas right for the first 5 minutes (but then changed)

He claimed he’d seen videos of babies being beheaded even though the Israeli government has now come out and said that didn’t happen.

And he couldn’t answer a single question about even the most basic things.

I think it’s one of the worst interviews by an MP I can remember and he’s the fucking defence minister!
Diane Abbot holds that distinction by some distance. Virtually every one she gave.

Thanks, I managed work all that out for myself.

I was referencing the fact that Shapps said those words (Michael Howard style) each time he was asked if 24 hours was sufficient to evacuate a million people, which he never answered.

For those unable to appreciate that, I was basically saying that he is a fucking ****.

Oh sorry, whoosh. I think we can all agree with that. He made Ben Swain look composed.

Anyway, enough levity.

As I said previously Israel need to be careful it’s not getting rope-a-doped into something. To me, the attack by Hamas makes no sense without some sort of trap being involved.
One way or another they are keen to get a reaction. They are sure to get it, and the Palestinian people are sure to suffer (even more)

Israel treat these situations as intelligence opportunities. For example, a family knowing their child will die unless they are evacuated out of Gaza is more likely to give up intel eg if they have useful info on Hamas.

Unfortunately, it looks like (to me as an outsider) that Israel isn't just after Hamas anymore.
