Mike Dean death threats.

The standards of officiating over here is woeful but that doesn't call for so called keyboard warriors to start making horrible comments and threatening people and their families because they are unhappy with a decision in a game or the final result.

Same goes for all the ones making racist and homophobic comments. It's not big, doesn't make you hard and people are certainly getting sick to the back teeth, when it comes to hearing and seeing it constantly happening.

I think really the only thing that can happen is for the social media giants to try and clamp down on it, but yet again I don't know how that can theoretically happen when it is currently so easy for anyone to access a social media platform and post and send whatever they like, as vile and as putrid as it is.

I don't like the guy either but that's just fucking sick. Referees are still human beings and they have families. Even if keyboard warriors are generally cowards, there's always the odd nutcase out there who will act on it.

Apparently a lot of the racist comments aimed at Tuanzebe were from non-UK accounts, so hopefully it is just keyboard warriors tweeting in rage from their homes miles away. Twitter is ridiculous. You get banned for calling people cunts (I did) but you can be as racist or gruesome as you like and post child porn and G-d knows what else and get away with it.

You answered your own question mate, make it harder to obtain an account by using something like a national insurance or driving licence number or passport number these twats must have one of these

I think he was overdue a rest and he's had two red cards in a week so this was a good time to take him out of the spotlight whilst also highlighting what kind of abuse referees get.

I wouldn't idly write off a death threat as some "keyboard warrior", Top referees get incredible abuse including threats and wishing harm on them and their families every week- for them to take it to the police and make it so public, it might be a more serious or credible threat than a throwaway social media message.
This is what I said to my mate who messaged me something this morning, I said “I bet it’s some mafia betting ring, I can’t see it being a pissed up West Ham fan on Twitter.”

Even if they aren't, it's still not cool to threaten to kill someone over a football match. I'm not going to send Robin Olsen death threats for conceding three goals.

Apart from anything else, it's cowardly. Like, that guy threatening Pickford over Instagram? As if he'd hurt him in real life. Pickford is 6ft 1, a professional athlete who throws himself at the ground for a living, and batshit insane to boot. He'd flatten him.
