Milner>>>>>Barry

----------Dzeko

-Silva-----------Tevez

------Yaya

----------------------Milner

---------De Jong

Kolorov--Boateng--Komp--Zab

This would be my strongest team at the moment. Milner and Yaya can drop in the middle to make it a 3 whilst Silva and Tevez can roam and support Dzeko.

No, Barry and Milner. Yaya is world class imo. I rate MJ extremely highly. Just my opinion.

Yeah so did i as did alot of people but he has pretty much been out of the game for 3 years piled on weight and has a love for things alcoholic (big contract too early IMO.) Will be interesting to see how he fairs when he comes back but my hopes are not sky high for him.

I hear what you're saying, but I've got everything crossed that he returns to his best. If he does we'll have a hell of a player on our hands imo.

Ya Ya's nowhere near world class in my opinion.

Another 4-4-2 player played out of position for me.

I agree, would like to see Milner there I'm a fan of his. Although Barry's playing really well but if things don't go our way then I'm on board that we should try it out as a different form.

If Milner had the start ahead of Barry I would be happy to go with that but I think Milner should be given the freedom to go box to box, if he played Barry's position he'd be too restricted to holding back from going forward as it's Yaya who joins in the attack, plus as mentioned before Barry fills the left back spot when Kolorov shifts up the wing.

If MJ recaptures his form and goes into next season fully fit we could have an extremely strong midfield to choose from. MJ can make those quick late runs into the box which Ireland was very good at. Next season will be interesting in regards to midfield for sure.

Why do so many people under-rate Barry. Do they really think Mancini and Capello know nothing about football?

Barry is extreamly slow for my liking but ya can't fault the guy for what he's done this season, he's been great help for our defence, he reminds me abit like Dietmar Hamann doesn't make massive impressions on the game but the little things he does actually helps out alot more.

To be honest I'd stop playing Milner on the wing and with AJ out for 3 months maybe revert to a 4-3-2-1

GK Hart

RB Zabaleta
CB K.Toure
CB Kompany
LB Kolarov

RCM Milner
DCM De Jong
LCM Barry

CAM Silva
CAM Tevez

ST Dzeko

IMO Milner needs to be drafted into centre mid for Barry.

He offers us much more than Barry does in centre mid. His passing isn't as good as Barry but for energy, tracking back, getting forward he is streets ahead.

Barry is good when it's a tight game and when we need to keep hold of the ball, he won't panic and he's dependable.

But i definitely think Milner should replace Barry in centre mid and see how we get on. I just think once the game stretches Barry is a bystander

Barry for me tbh..hes a bit more composed on the ball,Milner goes all dill the dog when he gets the ball..

The fundamental flaw in your logic to me, Anton, is that Milner is as slow as Barry. And his vision is poorer in my opinion. He doesn't need to get forward as part of the holding two, either.

But if we go 4-4-2 I do agree that his energy would make him more effective than Barry.

One thing I do know is that Milner is a waste of space in a wide role. His delivery's ok but his lack of pace and penchant for running down blind alleys renders him largely useless there in my opinion.
Nobody in the World is as slow as Barry. His vision is actually very good, just his final ball when often a simple one can sometimes be lacking, but over recent weeks i've seen Barry give away simple balls aswell. With Milner and Yaya in the team, both can go forward, both can drop in to form a solid bank of 3. Whereas Barry is too one dimensional and is is a big factor in our slow play which often leads to an inability to break teams down

So MJ is better than Y Toure and Milner

Wow half a season and you know that, unbelivable Jeff

Not long ago people rated Steven Ireland highly, at the moment in my opinion MJ is not proven in our squad. I would love to see him get a run soon though.
I think it is worth trying Milner over Barry, as long as he is in the centre.

yaya sitting in the middle, forging forward puts play to any real effectiveness that Milner could provide at his best and unfortunately for Milner, Yaya is a better player than him so gets the nod in that position.

Milner is highly industrious but much less effective out wide. However due to AJ's injury he may have to settle for that position in upcoming fixtures unless we start to see SWP getting some game time.

barry is a reliable link up player, not someone who can find that killer pass or final assist before a goal attempt but an important cog in mancini's midfield strategy, so will always get in ahead of milner. This can be somewhat frustrating at times (especially when we dont have silva) but it's not often we get out-hussled in a game or come out with less possession than our opponents.

I agree with what GerBlueBear says regards Barry being able to provide cover for AK when he bursts forward so for me, the only position Milner has a shot at, is in a wide position.
