I'm sorry Monkfish, but I very rarely ever remember us 'controlling' a game last season with Milner in the middle.

All relative fellow Fish, if you'd watched us last year the by comparison you controlled midfield, in fact for the bulk of the game at COMS I would say your midfield dominated the game (certainly after the first 15mins you controlled the game and totally controlled the 2nd half), our firepower up front was just too much for you and you were a bit toothless up front

We do need some more fire power.

Heskey's good work is all on the half way line, which is no good when you need a goal.

Carew is awesome when on form and 100% fit. If he's 99% fit then he just walks around the pitch and the ball just hits him and bounces off.

I'd be happy to see them both go and get Robbie Keane in and maybe someone else.

Agbonlahor is really coming on, his strength and play with his back to goal etc is getting better and better.

We could even loan Jo off you guys ;)

Get him in then we can close this post.Be glad when the transfer window is closed does my head in all this will he wont he.

If Milner and A. Young both leave Villa, I think O'Neill will walk. He's worked hard to build his team and while losing a top player each off-season might be inevitable, I think losing two of them would see him lose it and walk.

Seen at Villa sites that £ 24 Mill bid has been rejected. Have you heard anything?

No, but it wouldn't surprise me. And I think this is our final offer, tbh. No way we'll be offering £30 mill.

At around 4 oclock today there was a SSN reporter who stated that we had had a bid of just under £24million rejected.

Are any of you saying what a pointless signing Milner would be aware of a complete lack of energy in our midfield last season - and also aware of the energy Milner provided for Villa? If Milner was a City player last season I think we would have strolled 4th and possibly pushed Arsenal for 3rd.

He isnt the worlds best but a vast improvement on what we had in the middle of the park last year. Ok we now have Yaya, and if he is out for 6 weeks after the Spuds game??? We go back to the midfield generals of Ireland and Barry? Good look not being overun by Everton again with that! Players like Milner make teams play better, and you probably only really appreciate it when you watch the player control games week after week, and Milner certainly played a pivotal role in a Villa midfield that controlled a lot of games. Can you name any game last season where we bossed midfield? Even in the games we won comfortably it was pretty obvious where our weakness lay. Too easy to sometimes blame the defence when that defence has midfielders running at them unapposed.

Granted he is overpriced at 25 million, but money really isnt an issue, if Villa manage to challenge us due to the money they got for Milner good luck to them - but this will because they overperformed and we underperformed. Villa are not our rivals anymore. If they are next season we deserve another season of failure.

This the point. Right now we have one player than can bring the ball up from the back to the front Yaya. Berry, DeJong, and AJ couldnt do it last year what makes you think all the sudden they can this year? Milner is needed. If we dont get him.. we better get someone back up Yaya.

We really should walk from this at 24m if they've rejected that.

That represents an excellent deal from them, if they think they can squeeze more then sod em... let them keep an unhappy player for year and we or someone else will have him for much less than that.

Just what we need, give em £25 million we go on to dominate the universe while they worry about their next star player we can pinch off em.

Think of Ac Milan
Think of Madrid
think of Liverpool in the 80s
Think of, .....na fuck them.

Thats were heading ^^^^^^^ who gives a shit about the price tag as long as we get to were we wont to be.

That's precisely the point, there must be a plan B or C instead of this guy. I understand the need for this type of player... but let's not turn it in a obsessed Hughes-type transfer. If they won't take 24m walk away... look at other options... let the player force the transfer through if need be - 24m should be enough to make it happen.

Not a fair comparison, Milner isnt an injured RSC, he is an up and coming young player having had the best season of an already good career for a young player, you and I might feel other players are better bets, Mancini clearly doesnt or those possibly those 'better bets' are not interested in us. And if Milner is our first choice a couple of million means nothing us unless the press having a go about overpaying really matters? It wont matter if Milner helps us to some silverware thats certain.

That is exactly what will happen.............if Villa don't allow this to happen then they'll have one seriously pissed off player to contend with next season!!
