Ridiculous signing as I have said before, the money talked about is double his real world value he would cost more that silva and yaya toure ffs !

Wont be a first team starter it amazes me we are spending this much to sit him on the bench.

Dejong and yaya will start every game they are fit in the centre, on last season form Bellamy will be first choice on the left and we will play silva on the right OR SIlva on the left and Johnson on the right. Tevez + ade or another new forward. So where is Milner ? on the bench if everyone is fit IMO.

We have SWP and Johnson who I honestly believe are better wide players on the right so hes basically being brought in as extra cover in midfield, even if we sell Ireland we still have barry and Viera ok they dont offer any creativity which milner does but they dont even get on the bench ?

The only positive is hes probably as good as Ireland on a good day but more versitile and much much better attitude, still dont think hes the best part of £20 million better than Ireland.

Joke of a price for an average player imo. Still i'll get behind him and i hope he proves me wrong.

A much better argument could be made for signing Ashley Young from Villa, a much better prospect for many and a genuine England prospect. When Capello starts his clearout of those who will now be deemed as surplus to requirements as the national team rebuilding gets underway, I fully expect Young and Adam Johnson to be two in the 17 picked for the next fixture in August.

Ashley Young is pretty shit, just another English speed merchant winger IMO.

Yeah, i kind of see him as a Zabaleta of midfield, with maybe a bit more pace. Not sure being a bit faster and English is worth £20 million extra.

I guess we just have to ignore the price tags of our players though, they'll always be unrealistic, just worries me slightly when it's going to a potential rival and it sort of sets a precedent.
It annoys me more than us appointing that potato headed clown as our first team coach. English teams are going to use the Milner scale just Villa are using the Lescott scale. Both are merely good, solid players.

As great as Lescott started to look, is he really any better than Kompany, who cost £6m? I'm certain we could find a better player on the continent than James Milner, for a fraction of the price. He's worth around £15m and that's being generous.

EXACTLY. We all know Kompany is a much much better player than Lescott, more versitile and none of the injury problems. He cost what a quarter of the price ?

With these sort of prices we should forget about signing ANY players from english clubs. Look at the quality we are picking up from Germany and SPain. Would cost twice as much if they played int he prem. I think we are shooting ourselves in the foot giving villa that much money for an average workman like player. They could rebuild their side with that money if they spend wisely abroad.

Personally I havent met a single city fan that thinks he is a good signing for the talked of money.

We are all over the moon with signings like SIlva, Yaya, Botang, Johnson (last season)

It finally looks like we are the real deal in the transfer market learning from past mistakes (RSC, Lescott, ill fated kaka move etc)

I just look at this like the Lescott deal, its double what hes worth and even short term hes unlikely to be a first team starter because the players we already have and are now signing are much much better than him. Its not rocket science.

If we sign him I will obviously back him and get behind him but you could put a gun to my head and I would refuse to say this is a good signing or hes worth £20 million +

so much negativity despite yet another mega signing today, unbelievable. If our manager and owners want him then back him and stop whinging about it

for the money we are going to pay for milner which i think is too much.

rather us offer the same money for the german sensation OZIL.

now he is going to be world class in the next 2 to 3 seasons, could you say the same about milner.

im sorry lads, but lescotts a better player than kompany, aerialy, technically and mentally. i love komps but i dont feel he's as good as lescott when hes fit. Komps is learning in that CB role and i hope he and joleon play there as a pair next year, but he looked out of his depth againt certain players last year ( as did toure ) like rooney and drogba. whereas lescott has the ability to cope with those players when hes not on the treatment tabe. game of opinions mate but iknow what i look for in a CB and lescott has it
