am I missing something? what's the big deal with acquiring Milner, he is good but just depth really for the midfield. he would not be in my starting team and personally I hope we use those funds to acquire a bigger talent in the midfield.

its not all about bigger talent you only have to look at some of the scums team to realize this!

The thing is I dont wee where he would play.

We already have, SWP, A Johnson, Silva and Bellamy. In the centre we have Yaya.

We have made an offer for Balotelli it seems presumably he would be used on the right as we have Tevez, Ade and possibly Dzeko comming up front.

So where is milner going to play even if we get rid of Ireland, maybe Bellamy ?

HEs mainly a right footed wide player from what I have seen at his time at Villa. Hes not going to get in centre midfield with Dejong and Yaya IMO and Silva as the creative option in there.

He will play in a 3 man midfield with yaya and barry/aj

Agreed in part De Jong will play but not necessarily with Barry, IMO that didn/t look that good last season but I can see NDJ, Milner and Yaya playing in 3 man midfield as much as Barry, Vierra Yaya, perm aany three from six really and if Kompany returns to midfield then any 3 from 7. AJ may be rotated with Silva behind two strikers or they may be deployed on left or right wings. It is going to be a sod trying to predict starting eleven though, let alone trying to work out who will be on the bench.

There will NOT be a starting X1 for next season.As most top teams do,RM will look at the opposition and see who will do a certain job for us for that game !!
We have never been in this position before,so both Players & Fans had better get used to it AND QUICKLY !!!!!!

Alright then let me ask this then, why do people keep saying that de Jong ( player named in the wc team of the tournament) won't be playing , but Milner ( average English player in the wc) will be playing in our midfield next season?
Ps I have no problem with Milner, but de Jong is poss best def mid in the world
