Missing woman Nicola Bulley - inquest (P 158)

I can’t work this out??
They did extensive searches using top spec technology and never found her last week?

That's the bit I don't understand. They searched that area extensively, using the best equipment out there and found nothing. Crazy thought but what if somebody placed the body in there AFTER the area was searched? As the police were adamant she was in the river it could almost be the perfect crime. An awful tragedy my heart goes out to her poor family.

How is it the perfect crime they can tell the difference between a body that's been in the water 3 weeks to one just placed in ffs.

It reeks of incompetence by everybody involved.
Have you ever needed to search for a body in the water? I have, twice-one occasion my officers found the person, the other, a dog walker found the poor chap a mile or so down the river tangled in reeds...

Its not as easy as people seem to think.

My force had a handful of divers. Lancs will have more but even so a body will move, sink, float up-and often get stuck somewhere.

The media feeding frenzy around this case has been frankly sickening .

People also get confused-the media don't run the investigation-the police do.

In my role as a Response Insp I'd have numerous missing persons -a number high risk, every single shift, plus all the other demands to manage with meagre, over stretched resources.

I expect Lancs will self refer to IOPC.

Perfect crime until the post mortem finds her lungs filled with water and that she died by drowning? Time to pack all this nonsense in now. Last sentence is great. As I said earlier, at least they can have a funeral now

Not too crazy mate, we simply don't know why she was not found on the earlier searches.

That said, it doesn't seem plausible for obvious reasons

The Police Diver said had he been fully aware of the circumstances prior to searching, he would have searched differently.

Not sure what he meant by this.
He actually said 'had I known she was high risk it would have changed things'...what bit of looking for a dead body did he fail to understand was high risk. Bloke has come across as a self publicising idiot.

That is a plausible explanation. The autopsy will give more insight. Fell/jumped in and missed by the authorities or foul play. Right back to the start. No one knows what happened. Might never…

The loons on social media believe this is a murder case, body just been dug up and dumped in the river

A mile is a long way, especially underwater. To search it thoroughly they'd still be searching now. It's been mentioned before, the amount of snags below water, especially under the banks are unknown, ask any fisherman.
Disagree about taking an age to search bud. With the technology they had, they could quickly cover that distance.
