MLB 2022

Red Sox vs Yankees on iplayer now and I thought I’d look up what all the stats meant, I wish I hadn’t bothered!
Don't obsess about the stats too much for starters. That'll be of more interest if and when you decide the game is keeping you curious.
Bear in mind that it is incredibly difficult to hit the ball into fair territory and make it safely even to first base. The best hitters fail 7 times out of 10 at bats, so it isn't all about home runs, and the lack of successful hitting may come as a surprise at first.
It's also important to realise the pitcher isn't always trying to throw a strike and really is trying to tempt the batter to chase pitches slightly outside the strike zone.
Stick with it, the more you start to understand its ebb and flow, the more the game grabs you. The quality of the fielding and the skill of pitchers becomes as enjoyable as seeing the big hit, especially if you decide on a team and they are making it tough for the opposition to score.

Yep I appreciate the nuances, like you say some of the fielding and throwing is out of this world, home runs weren’t even considered the best thing at the start and were only encouraged when the money men saw how much the fans liked it.

Nicely done.

love stuff like that with drones, I remember they did a similar one at City with the trophy in the centre circle. You can see how football is getting the USA influence the bands outside etc. I think if we had the weather there would be room to expand stuff outside to make it more of a day out for families, but when it passes down most of the season people just want to get in and out for the game.

Day one of the postseason is halfway done and my Phillies (who are back in the playoffs for the first time in 11 years) took game one! St. Louis was 93-0 all time in the playoffs when leading by 2 or more after 8 innings and the Phightin's put up a six-spot!

Now we just need the Padres to take out the Mutts later on...

Watched that last night, why the hell didn’t they pull that pitcher off before he gave away all those runs, it was clear he was fucked, that’s down to the manager that.

Always enjoy the wild optimism and enthusiasm of the home crowds in post-season, yet for all that, only Cleveland exploited their home advantage last night.

The Phillies have been singing Dancing On My Own in the locker room and the fans have picked up on it for today's game. This is the subway line heading toward the ballpark this morning. We Americans don't usually sing at games so if this comes off at the stadium w/ 40,000+ people singing it could be pretty cool.
