Monaco - Post Match thread.

Can't wait! We only need six new defenders and a 'keeper! Surely that'll be about £450m?

I'd keep Kolarov as a back up centre half as I think he looks really good there but I don't think any of the others are good enough.

Not sure though that our DoF is the man to sort it out, his CB's buys have been fucking garbage and he doesnt even seem to think our fullbacks have been past it for the past three seasons either.

Poor Poor performance from the team and manager as a collective, but as they say you must learn from your mistakes so hopefully all do.

We knew before this game we need strengthening in the summer in defence and keeper and this game just highlighted this even more so.

Issue last night though was the lack of protection again from the midfield.

Last night our club, players and management let us down. Clichy hasn't been good enough for 2 years. Sagna can't attack to save his life. Fernandinho had fernando's boots on. KDB was a disgrace and has been 90% of this season (does he even have a defined role and has he ever made a challenge?), Sane and Sterling are young and their decision making is woeful and Aguero, he was shite last night, no first touch, the ball didn't stick - we badly need an alternative to him when he's in shit mode. Overall this season is a huge let down for us as fans and city as a club. Pep has been found out that if he hasn't got a ready made world class team with 11 internationals in he hasn't a clue. All the above problems were present from last season and he addressed exactly fuck all. A GK we didn't want to lose and replaced him with a clown. We used to dread it if Willy played as we all know he's shite. He only gets a reprieve for his penalty saves. Pep the saviour? Don't make me laugh - we played better football under Mancini and Pellegrini and neither had the sway or the funds in the boardroom that Pep somehow has. This season has gone to shit and Peps not the messiah he's a very naughty boy.

Wow. I know it hurts but ... Pep inherited Pelle & Mancini squad. He can't replace most of the team in one summer window & the Jan window is a dead loss. we bought 3 game changers this season but 2 ended up with season long injuries. He needs some time & patience to upgrade the squad & I fully expect him to continue to do so this summer.

And as for that Ian bloke who came on near the end, didn't even touch the ball once. It was his job to get the equaliser ffs.

Swales out!

We have had plenty of time and money to address that issue and we bought players that we have either loaned out (Zinchenko, Moreno etc etc) aren't good enough (Bravo) and we haven't bought a decent defender in 6 years. 6! How can that not be an issue? Zabs - finished, Sagna - shite, Stones - work in progress, Komps - perma sick, Ota - not good enough, Clichy - always been rubbish, Kola - gets a reprieve as he's doing ok at CB but woeful at LB. sort it out city.

I see that in his press conference, Pep blamed his attacking players for not turning up!
For sure they weren't great last night, but if
that's the ONLY problem Pep, why did the whole flow of the game change when you dropped KDB deeper?

I think last night was just another example of us coming up short this season. I doubt we will win the FA Cup and wouldn't be surprised if we miss top 4. The squad and the club lost momentum after Mancini - since our first title under Mancini our player recruitment has been poor and we still look to Silva and Aguero to win us games. There are too many players who play when they feel like it - and it's simply not good enough. KDB has been shocking for weeks - he didn't deserve a start last night. The personnel that make up our defensive unit are not up to the task - we have spent fortunes on defensive reinforcements - but no one we have purchased in over the last 3 years looks consistently up to the task.
In the ongoing absence of Kompany we look leaderless - headless chickens came to mind last night.
From somewhere Pep needs to get this group of players - many of whom will be out of the door in the summer - to dust off their professional pride and play their hearts out if we are to salvage anything from this season. It might be financially prudent but I'm not sure it's great squad management to have half a team out of contract and simultaneously talking to other clubs as we approach the business end of the season. We could and should have moved the likes of Clichy on last summer and brought a left back in who could have played to Peps system.
When the drains come up on this season - and Pep has his say - I wouldn't be superised to see other changes behind the scenes. We are in a bit of a mess right now (we are looking at a huge number out and a similar number in - that is really not the way to manage a squad) - a mess than can be sorted to some extent in the summer but it's a mess that could have been avoided - and if - as we suspect - the club knew for a number of years that Pep was coming -our preparations for his arrival have been shocking. Do we really expect to hit the ground running in August with 5 new names in the starting 11?! Did we sign the likes of Mangala knowing Pep was coming in - if we did heads should roll.
Nothing can change what happened last night - we lost to the better team but these things are won and lost not just on the night but in the years before. Monaco have assembled a fantastic attacking line up of young talent that are credit to them. We on the other hand look like an overpaid Dads Army who think that the cheque book can fix all our ills during transfer windows - perhaps we need to look at where Monaco source their talent. Money always helps but we need to manage our player recruitment better and we need to learn to stop being sentimental- a number of our squad are past it - but we've clung on for too long and we are now paying a price. A number of people inside our club - with poor decision making over the last 3 years were the architects of that mess last night - together with too many players bottling it i must add - I just hope the people at the top recognise the issues and fix the underlying problems and not keep papering over the cracks. We need to ****e squad a little each year - saying goodbye to those we no longer have a use for and adding a mixture of talent and potential - but this needs to be 4 in 4 out - not the blitzkrieg we are planning this summer.

KDB was a disgrace and has been 90% of this season (does he even have a defined role and has he ever made a challenge?),

Much like the rest of your post, this is a ridiculous overreaction. He's had a few poor games in a row now, but it's March and he has 10 assists (our best), 5 goals and makes 5 key passes leading to goal scoring opportunities per game, among the best in Europe.

Overall this season is a huge let down for us as fans and city as a club.

Has it? Speak for yourself.

Pep has been found out that if he hasn't got a ready made world class team with 11 internationals in he hasn't a clue.

We're second in the league, what the fuck are you talking about?

All the above problems were present from last season and he addressed exactly fuck all.

Total bullshit, we didn't beat a top team last season at all and we've already managed it under Pep.

He's made players like Silva and Sterling, who were horrendous last season, much, much better.

If you don't see any improvement then you mustn't be paying attention.

A GK we didn't want to lose and replaced him with a clown.

Joe isn't doing that great in Torino, sorry to tell you buddy. Already has a worse shots stopped per goal record than Willy.

Pep the saviour? Don't make me laugh - we played better football under Mancini and Pellegrini

lol nah. Pellers was around not that long ago, or have you forgotten how we limped to fourth on goal difference with some of the most shockingly drab performances we've seen post-take over?

Mancini had prime Aguero who wasn't missing sitters like he's been doing all season, but I'd still argue that Sane-Jesus-Sterling make for some of the most exciting football I've seen this side of Barcelona.

and neither had the sway or the funds in the boardroom that Pep somehow has.

He's had one window and Txiki didn't get the people he wanted?

The club supports him, why don't you?

This season has gone to shit and Peps not the messiah he's a very naughty boy.

I'm going to be starting the Guardiola song a lot on Sunday at the Etihad, just for you. <3
