Ah Moss Side in the 60's, one hell of a place in them days, lots of sleazy stuff to explore.
As teenagers me and my mate were beckoned into an alley after a night match and received our first ever blow jobs, still not certain to this day if it really was a woman.

Apologies, no disrespect to the good folk of Moss Side.
It was the 60's and I was a teenager.

I lived on Brentwood st with my nan, then all those houses were knocked down to make way for the wonderful estate that remains to this day.

Don't remember much about it but my family still speak fondly of the people and how the area went down hill when they were all shipped out to Withington and Wythenshaw.

Loved the night games at Maine road the excitement of the match and wondering if your car would be ok when you got back to it.

It was a lively old place in them days.

You could write a book and I'm sure someone has, about the problems there at the time and the reasons for it but a football forum probably aint the best place to go on about it.

From a City point of view, I think nearly everyone who's old enough to have been around then, preferred those days to the new ground.

Some of it is simply nostagia but I think the location and the number of varied boozers around Moss Side and all the way back to town made it a better place for a crack than where we are now.

The OP mentioned The Robin Hood on Maine Road.

I've been in one or two boozers in my time but that is the only one I've been in with a sign on the wall saying:

Strictly no balaclavas.

I remember a handwritten sign over the pay phone in the Beehive saying (Beware the drugs squad maybe listening)
I was only a kid and thought this really funny.
