Most overrated City player ever?

Not sure he was ever overrated as such but do you know who was really really poor? Ian Brightwell.

I’ve watched quite a lot of games and reviews recently from the late 80’s and 90’s and it was staggering how many goals he cost us.

Back then I was just a kid and didn’t mind him because he came through the youth set up even if I understood he wasn’t all that. Looking back at these games with an older head though and I genuinely was shocked by how much he struggled.
A bit harsh IMO. Thought he was a good midfielder, but his supposed 'versatility' ended up with him playing mainly in defence from the early 90s. I felt this suited his game less, and yes, he was caught out a fair bit because of positioning and lack of pace at full back.

He wasn't the first overrated player to get a statue, and he won't be the last.

Great leader, good player.
Captain for almost a decade leading a team that won:
4 x PLs
4 League Cups
1 x FA Cup (plus 1 not as captain thiugh he was captain in the semi v United)
2 x Community Shield

Not only that, despite being a defender he scored crucial goals:
Winner v United in 2012 to set up title win
Clincher v West Ham to win title
2nd in 2018 League Cup final
The Leicester goal

3 x PFA PL teams of the year
2 x Alan Hardaker trophies
1 x City player of the year
PL Hall of Fame

Made nearly all defenders who played next to him look better than when they were paired with someone else.

Overrated, aye.

All about opinions.

You think he was a great player, I don't He’s a leader. That's his greatest strength.

Why oh why did you bite !

I see some poor souls are bored at the weekend and seeking attention. Vinny ? Most ? That’s laughable and ridiculous.
