Most Overrated Player to Play for City

This thread should have more controversy, given how being overrated works. So in the spirit of that I'll throw a player into the mix: Fernandinho.

Has he been a fantastic player? Of course. Is he a City legend? He should very much be considered one.

But you can still be brilliant and overrated (eg Scholes). Fernandinho just isn't on the level as the likes of Aguero, Silva, De Bruyne, or Kompany. He's a clever, disciplined, all rounded midfielder but he's neither a truly world class defender, or attacker, or midfield general like the players above. In the same way we loved De Jong for his efforts defensively in an attacking side, we really love Fern for his efforts in these super attacking teams he's been in (Plus his growth under Pep has been a great watch).

He was to Touré what De Jong was to Barry. Just as important as Yaya, but not as good.

To be clear, I'm not saying he's anything less than a great player. Just overrated.
I don't really get this argument. He's a completely different sort of player to Toure. He plays in the same position that Barry did but is a much better player. Of course in terms of pure footballing talent, he's not at the same level as Toure, Silva or De Bruyne, but then neither is Vinny, which is why he's a centre back. But in this position, he's undoubtedly been one of the best players in the world since he joined us. As a defensive midfielder, he's been much better than Toure ever was, but that's why Toure played further forward most of the time.

Yes I know he's a different type of player to Touré. Just like De Jong was a different player to Barry.

With the exception of maybe De Jong and Kinkladze, the vast majority of players chosen are not rated that highly around here. How can you say Mcmanaman was overrated when he's universally despised round these parts as a player? I guess City legend Danny Mills was overrated too.

Very few all round players like him. He’s been top quality since game his first match when we beat newcastle 4-0. Also just as consistent as Silva over the past six seasons and played a much a role in the past two titles than Kompany.

Rodri is an excellent player buts it been a noticeable drop off this season.

Comparing him to De Jong is a pisstake

The OP couldnt be more wrong , De Jong was a superb midfielder , perhaps he can name all these careers he ruined , i can only remember the lad at Newcastle getting a broken leg and the referee didnt even give a free kick for that challenge

Steve Daley , without a doubt , he scored a worldy against the Rags whilst playing for Wolves and Swales stumped up a record fee for him whilst getting rid of Gary Owen and Peter Barnes under Allison , crazy times.

I remember the excitement of the prospect of the arrival of an Italian striker whose playing style had been compared to his illustrious compadre Pierluigi Casiraghi...
.... then Bernardo Corradi arrived.

John bloody Macken likewise scored a worldy for PNE and was useless most of the time for us
