Dropping Casillas was Mourinho's resignation letter. His replacement Adan managed to get himself sent off in the first match back after the winter break so Casillas has had to come back in. Irony.

And that for me is the crux of it. I actually think Mourinho is in many ways as unsuited to the current City set up as Mancini is. They are both highly political figures who will happily go to war with their own clubs to get what they want. City needs someone who will be the "face" man of the ADUG regime. Someone who will show a willingness to put politics aside and solely defend their club in the way that Wenger or even Slur Alex do. They are both company men, and we need a company man fronting City. What makes Mourinho more attractive than Mancini is simply that he's much better, both as a manager and coach. It's funny when people refer to the publicity that Mario brings and how that's good for City. Signing Mourinho would be the biggest signing publicity wise at our club since the takeover.

He's convinced me with an FA Cup a league title and a fantastic win percentage. Haven't lost by more than a goal in nearly two years either.
Interesting point in there billy. As you know, I think mourinho and city would be a match made in heaven. I was encouraged by mancini's words that "the sheikh loves mario because everyone talks about him" or whatever, because whatever publicity mario brings , mourinho would bring in tenfold.BillyShears said:MSP said:And 10 times better in his job than most of them.

Speaks volumes about what kind of club Madrid is ...
Brilliant post. City's long term future will take care of itself because we are rich. The club is investing heavily on a production line of young players. It's all about "now" for city, to become recognised by players, public and sponsors as one of the world's biggest clubs. That's what mourinho brings instantly. If we had progressed this season you could argue that that was happening, but as it is we are fighting to stand still.MSP said:BillyShears said:MSP said:And 10 times better in his job than most of them.

True. Mourinho loves himself first. Let's be straight - it's something all successful people do. Mario does it too but he still has to show what he's worth to that characteristic be something I could handle. If he scores 25 goals per season he can kiss his photo and make love with it on the pitch anytime he scores as far as I am concerned.
And true about publicity. If any publicity is good publicity, let's not kid ourselves, Mario is anonymous compared to Mourinho. Mario hits the news usually only when he makes some stupid thing, Mourinho does it as soon as he open his eyes.
I think City needs success at this moment more than anything else. With FFP around the corner and big competition anywhere you need success and the fast one at this stage of club development. That's what brings money and raise the club profile. Being all fake smiles and love while being successful is good thing and Barcelona mastered that recently. But being all smiles and love without success won't get you anywhere far.
That's why I couldn't give a flying one what people think about some moral characteristic of Mourinho. I'm not marrying him to care about it.
