Best compromise for SS3 would probably be just making the back 10 rows safe standing, so it would only apply to the fans that currently stand there. No thanks my legs will no longer stand it
They should make all of 314 safe standing as everyone stands for the duration of the game in there. Front to back. The away section is already done so would make sense to do the home section for safety reasons.Best compromise for SS3 would probably be just making the back 10 rows safe standing, so it would only apply to the fans that currently stand there.
That way there's safety for the fans that currently stand and the ones that wish to remain seated, without the need to uproot anyone
Would be interesting if they surveyed all ST holders in SSL3 to ask if they wanted safe standing or not. I’m not confident that the majority would say yes (I’m in 315 and would be in favour for what it’s worth). Simply because most of 315-318 stay seated for most of the game.I think the club should make an effort to try and find otlut how many people would be interested in moving to a safe standing area.
If they did a survey and found 25% of people would prefer to be in safe standing, they could then increase the numbers available to be in line with what people want.
However, that could potentially mean moving thousands of people who don't want to be in a safe standing area and lots of people are precious about 'their seat.'
They come out on the road and mix with city fans now, so it will be the sameI’ve not read all the posts on this thread, but the obvious no no to this idea is segregation, not so much inside the ground, but outside, there would be no option other than having fans mixing to access the upper tiers, unless all away fans entered via the away section as it is now,but then there would be issues with fans leaving the stadium, just my perspective on the idea
Access would be via K1 & K2 behind an extended security fence or riot gates. They come out on the road and mix with city fans now, so it will be the same
Half the time clubs don’t even take up the third tier away allocation. Loads just have Level 1 and Level 2 of the away stand.
So we’d be moving 110-111 out of their seats for no real reason and we’d lose that either side of the away fans intimidation on Level 1.
Operation SSL3/2 -:Not for me. Away fans are in a good spot as they are now.
In a thin slither and split up into three distinct sections where none of them are ever singing the same song at the same time as each other.

They look and sound insignificant to the wider stadium as they are.
There hasn’t been a decent set of away fans, singing as one, for a normal allocation game (ie, not the domestic Cups when they get more tickets) going back years, and it’s due to the way they’re situated.
And you can’t really see them too much when we’re on the tele as most are away from the TV cameras. You can only ever see that tiny little section of them on Level 1. Putting them all in a spot they’d be seen for the TV isn’t a good idea.
Plus even worse than the aesthetic reason; why on Earth would we group them all together in one mass creating one big voice for them to create a better atmosphere?
Also, as they are now, we’ve got two good groups either side of the away fans on Level 1 who ‘give it’ to the away fans and are good at intimidating them (there have been comments from fanbases about this). Lose 110-111 from this and block 106 will be nowhere near as vociferous towards them.
We need to concentrate on making NSL2 our big atmosphere stand. We need as many of those fans like in the Leicester away end the other day to move to NSL2. Commandeer the stand and make it our atmosphere stand. This is possibly our last ever opportunity to create a proper home stand for atmosphere at the Etihad. We seriously cannot just let it fritter away… Operation NSL2!
Segregation/safety/logistics will NOT be compromised but enhanced....no missiles raining down on City fans !!We have one of the best sectioned off away ends in the country, it's very easily policed with the entire away end completely blocked off with only one entrance/exit. That's always going to be the priority and the reason why I believe they'll never willingly change it.
Can't think of many others like ours, stoke is the only one that comes to mind, that is pretty much the same as the Etihad with a completely fenced in away section and Leeds is like the extreme, prison version with half a mile of cages to get through.
Anybody in the south stand will know first hand how much of a ballache it becomes getting in/out in cup games when we have to give them the third tier instead and entrances and segregation outside the ground changes, nobody wants to deal with that shitshow every other week.
In the ground, breaking them into 3 stands makes it a lot harder for them to all sing in unison, not impossible but most of their songs take far more effort to buikd into a full away end singing with the mahority tailing off before they can fully get going. Anything else helps them build an atmosphere, and why would we do that?
Aside from the logistics, it's still a no thanks from me, I'm basically on the barrier in SS1, I'm there because I want to be, I like it, everybody I even vaguely know around me seems to feel the same. never heard any complaints. I have zero intention of moving from my seat and if there were to be any overhaul of the layout that forced me to move or even just changed my match experinence, my first thought would be to find an equivalent seat to what I have now, essentially just creating the same environment in a different part of the ground. There's no problem to be fixed here in my eyes.
