from the latin - lingua latīna ' muffanine's'

mixed to various degrees with the autochthonous languages, and referred to in the holy scriptures many times

Stood in the chippy last night and one person comes in an orders a chip barm then five minutes later someones else orders a chip muffin my head was spinning i had to leave its all getting a little confusing now

you'll find if you go in a chippy and the menu says muffin the barmy lot will say muffin as they have no conviction in their belief in the word where a muffin person will go in a chippy that the menu says barm and still say muffin as they know the one true word.

on that note though I call a chip butty a chip muffin but a bacon sarnie a bacon barm as breakfast muffins are too small for a bacon sarnie with hp

Another muffinite admitting he calls it a barm! They're all at it.

I thought Barms were cakes though, ie barmcakes.

Muffins are Lancashire Oven Bottom Muffins, created in Manchester for the enjoyment of all Mancs and Lancastrians of which I am one.

End of it's a muffin

Sausage and egg McMUFFIN

millions sold !! haha

(never heard of a McBarm btw)

Egg Mcmuffins are on an "English muffin", these do not exist in England. The closest relatative to an "English muffin", would be a crumpet. English muffins are also known as "tea cakes", and therefore GAY.

In Australia we can buy 'English Muffins' which look like this

Sourdough%20English%20Muffins.jpg

They are for toasting and spreading peanut butter, butter, vegemite etc.

From what I can gather, a barm/muffin is what we call a roll in Australia. A roll is something you use for hot chips, bacon, salad, chicken etc. Rolls are different to 'English muffins'...therefore it must be a barm. The barmites win!
