Well said!

10 or 20 banning orders & they will soon get the message..shame they wont listen...

I do agree with you though. I think it's classless, but not as bad as some people make it out to be.

The club should start banning them..

Football matches now-a-days is a family orientated day out with a lot more women and children going than they were in the 70's and 80's! These negative and disgusting chants should eradicate at our club! Face to face Warnings and if they do it again ban em for half a dozen games!

Re: The club should start banning them..

i`d suggest stewards start randomly pulling people out of the crowd for chanting it, give them a one game ban, word will soon get round

Manchester City's hard-fought 2-1 victory over West Ham was tarnished by a section of hardcore Blues fans again persisting with vile Munich chants.

They ignored manager Roberto Mancini, the club’s hierarchy and legends Colin Bell, Tony Book and Mike Summerbee to carry on the chants about the 1958 tragedy that claimed the lives of 23 people, including eight of the famous Busby Babes.

Summerbee even went so far as to pen his plea in the West Ham match programme.

Club ambassador Summerbee wants the supporters to self-manage the issue, writing: “Please, if you know anyone who sings these songs implore them to stop.”

He said there was no place in the City song book for the “hideous” chants which are not worthy of the great fans who won worldwide acclaim by the way they commemorated the disaster’s 50th anniversary at Old Trafford in 2008.

But a small number of sick supporters ignored him and all the other ex-players and club officials by chanting that they are Manchester City and they will sing what they want before chanting: “Who Put the ball in the Munichs’ net ... Yaya” in reference to City’s FA Cup semi-final win at Wembley

I don't like these chants myself and find them offensive, however where do you draw the line ? it's not racist chanting nor is it Homophobic chanting, it's offensive.
Maybe we ban people who question the referees parentage ???

one small problem, is the word munich punishable with a banning order?

you could be kicked out for swearing, racist chanting etc

but for using the word munich in a song i dont think so.

as for the songs theyve been goin for ages, well ever since i started going in 85.

mountains n molehills come to mind.

An answer to your question - Yes.

If the club set a rule, abide by it or risk being banned. Simple really

Re: The club should start banning them..

Ban people for saying Munich and you have to be consistent. Anyone who says anything that offends anyone will be banned. That includes homophobic comments, calling a player a ****, calling the scousers unemployed scroungers....

Peter Spencer can fuck off, the victory wasn't tarnished at all. I heard fuck all Munich chants and can only assume it was a select bunch of dicks. Is every victory going to be supposedly tarnished from now on because a small minority sing Munich sons (just as they always have done). Lazy Shite journalism

Were you at the game?

Yes.

Whatever sort of munich chants there might have been it clearly didn't tarnish the game as the MEN claim. Blackburn was a different story cos it was loud and clear and continuous, but yesterday it was fuck all.

I was pissed off that the semi victory was overshadowed by the rags spitting their dummies at the end with Balo, I was pissed off that the munich chanting overshadowed the win against blackburn, but I'm fucking fuming at our local paper trying to take away from us winning and going 7 points clear because of something that was pretty much a non-event

comments are one thing, having hundreds singing about death is humiliating to the club
