Ffs another 2 I could have added Scott Gorham and John Sykes ( although better known with another band)..shit and another couple have popped into my head wow put this list up to 30 ..edit some good guitarists have been in Thin lizzy I’m slightly biased but Gary was head and shoulders above the rest,although to be fair he wasn’t in lizzy that long and if I’m right only did one album but teamed up with Phil on solo projects together..Not even the best guitarist in Thin Lizzy.Open thread again.

I think you vastly under estimate the popularity of Japanese guitarists on bluemoon:-)I doubt that I will be participating as my list will be (at least) predominantly Japanese then it will be pretty pointless in me putting the work in to organise a list.

Binned off the idea of going for a single genre so i've got three rock guitarists in my longlist but at least one of them will have to be binned off I think if not two. My #1 will sort of qualify too cause he's king of fusing pretty much anything though I'll be pleasantly surprised if he gets in the overall top 20.
Be interesting to see how many people plump for people known predominantly for playing acoustic. Think I'll probably end up with two.
I'll be going all electric.

He was probably the most technically able of the Lizzy guitarists but Robbo and Gorham were the best pairing musically.

Just to confirm, as I am disappointed this hasn't been argued over as is the norm, this is your favorite guitarist and not a look at this pointless 12 minute solo, fast fingered guitar hero game bollocks.Plenty match or exceed Moore. He was very able though.
