i wonder how long the players will give pelli before they decide to sack him.

they won't. pellers is just doing what txiki and soriano want. he is a nice guy. he doesnt upset the players. mancini wanted out and out control and will clash with the new set up.

he's a really nice fella (met him at a do a bit back) but to juggle this bunch of mard arses you need to be very strong, not sure he has that. if the players try it again i'd sell each and every one of them. which is what we should have done when they turned on bobby.

sorry to sound naive(as i don't know) but was it all the squad to a man or was it a select few? if so who?

we won the league on goal difference in 2012 so we needed to strengthen. we needed to buy better than we already had to improve the squad not just squad players.

our first signing after winning the league was august 2012 a week before the community shield. we didnt strengthen when we were champions.

then we finished 2nd and instead of going for stability as the fans wanted we change it again.

the problems that were there last year were there the year we won the league

so he doesn't say hello the kit man...so what? we won the league.

that's the benchmark pellers has to reach. the title. the previous manager achieved it.

we gave into player power. the ones who moaned about mancini still didnt get a game anyway when pellers came in

pretty much spot on.

The Barca boys wanted out and out control and they got it. Therefore they have to take responsibility for this season also. We should have bought quality players after winning the title to strengthen and improve the squad regardless of if Mancini was staying or going. They didn't. Those chose to play games instead and we ended up with a bunch of less than mediocre players right at the death of the window instead.
They put their own ambitions and desires in front of those of the club by doing so.

It's funny how 3 of the rumoured players that got bobby the sack have faired out. Barry gone. Kompany and hart having a poor season by their standards

That's all very good but Ferran joined towards the end of August and Txiki in the October.
Let's not let the truth get in the way of a good story eh :)

Great posts. I would just add that Pellers does upset a few players but it is those least likely to kick up a fuss I.e. Lescott and before him Barry. Also, Richards lack of form doesn't give him a chance of a grievance or a game.

Some other players may be less than happy but speaking out would remind us of their role in getting Roberto sacked and their performances in the Vicky Kloss Cup Final.

Mancini has long gone but I hope for Pellers sake (who deserves more time) that Txiki and Ferran have abandoned the open door complaints policy that allowed everyone from the kit man to criticise our manager.

but it is true. they could have said he has a 5 year contract we will see it through but as soon as txiki comes in the rumours start in the press undermining the manager and it carries on all season to the point City didn't come clean and instead it costs us the cup v wigan as barca use balague to leak it day before the final

The 'open door complaints policy' was devised for a single reason to achieve a single objective.
It was successful. I very much doubt it will be allowed to happen with 'their man' in place.

It certainly seems that the biggest challenge managers face these days is maintaining harmony amongst a group of 25 blokes, all earning a fortune and most with egos to match their salaries. Not a problem with main guys, Yaya, Zaba, Silva etc but those on the fringe that are relying on cup games or injuries to get some game time must find it difficult and be hard to manage. We have had plenty of injuries this season but the 'second string', for want of a better word, haven't always stepped up and made life difficult for Pelligrini. I'm sure Micah, Rodwell, Garcia, Milner would all argue that they need a run of games to show their ability not just one off appearances but that's not how it works these days, clubs don't give managers the time to indulge players so managers don't. It can't be easy finding players that will improve the squad but who won't necessarily be first choice. How do you sell that to Ross Barkely, Shaw, Lallana or Wayne Rooney, all of whom know they could walk into a lesser team and be first choice. It will be an interesting summer because we know we will have departures, Lescott, Sinclair, Richards and Barry seem confirmed, others like Boyata, Dzeko and Milner are possible. So, despite still retaining an impressive first eleven, it looks likely that there will be several squad positions to fill and the 'homegrown' player quota to satisfy.

Annoys the fuck out of me the amount of time, money and juggling of our life's we do for the club and petty infighting costs Cup Finals, various people/players not being arsed at regular intervals and mentally tired?? Half of them don't know when to pass or shoot.

There are people better placed than me but from what I have been told - and I have no way of verifying if its true after we won the title - it was already known that the Barca boys were coming in later in the year and they were already blocking Mancini's transfer targets - via the Chairman. The 5 year deal for Mancini was always to some extent window dressing - when it was signed all parties knew it was pretty much a marriage of convenience i.e. he was never going to be here long 1 or 2 years maximum. Mancini threw his toys out of the pram publicly during the summer - when he saw his transfer targets being blocked - and we ended up buying 4 or 5 players in the last days of the window to shut him up. Player power played its part but the new Chairman and Director Football were handed ultimate power at the club (this came from the Sheik himself so for the time being they make the decisions) and they wanted their own man at the helm - MP. Mancini was never going to work under the new regime and he was compensated generously and sent on his way. MP may be under pressure but he will be backed - his situation could not be more different to Mancini's - and I really don't get the sense that the Barca boys will buckle to player pressure (Hart or Kompanyet al) this time if they play up - players who don't like it WILL be shown the door.

For what its worth I think we are on the right track and need to stick with MP - there are some changes in player personnel required -and sure we need more character and more bottle - but bringing Mancini back is not an option - in fact changing the manager is not an option. A very interesting summer lies ahead and we need to move to the next stage of our development where we upgrade the squad in line with new management teams philosophy - i.e. MP gets the players he needs to play his brand of football. For once we need to all show some patience - if we should have learned anything in all our years of suffering it is that quick fixes don't work. This regime is here for some time - so get used to it.
