Names we miss from the old place.

We used to park on Fred Tilson Close and then get beer from the Fred Tilson bar in the ground (North Stand).

Always remember big Helen's bell. That was very synonymous with City and rightly so - it is one of my favourite childhood memories.Went on the travel club coach when she ran it when I was about 16 - nightmare!

I am what I suppose people would call a 'casual'. However, being somewhat of a shithouse (and a shortarse to boot) it's always been more about the clothes than having a scrap for me. So from an early age, from my vantage point above the tunnel on the Kippax, I always took a keen interest in what the real lads were wearing. I remember being particularly taken with a lad's Berghaus Trango coat in my teens which, ironically, has just been re-released. I realise that the vast majority of you will think I'm a bit odd now. My apologies.

(no kiddy fiddling comments at all, you have been warned. Sry mods please dont kill me.)

My first game in 74 v Liverpool
My first night game and the lights.
My first night game standing on the Kippax.
£30 season ticket in 1990.
I loved Maine Road, I don't like COMS.

We need a new stadium that is ours that has soul.

COMS is a soulless concrete bowl like the Del Alpie in Turin the fans don't like that one either.

No, dont hold back you let it all out.

trying to guess what number game it was in the season ticket book, then getting to the ground and to see how far out you were.
the kids playing football at halftime behind the Kippax.
I loved that place just sorry my lad wasnt old enough to watch the blues play there.

Getting to the ground early and watching for Colin Bell's, sky blue, World cup squad car turning into the car park. Then getting his autograph before every home game. He once asked me if I was swapping 4 of his for one of Georgie Best's :-0. Yeah, right.....

As someone who was a keen climber in those days I was gobsmacked to see casuals like you lot sporting expensive Gortex shells at games. These were the sorts of kit that climbers would covet and save up for and there were these scallies dressed up like Chris fookin Bonnington to watch a footy match at sea level..FFS !!!

. never really got me head round that one ..

. BTW M8 did you ever discover what the words 'Berghaus' and 'Trango' referred to ???

I don't I'm afraid mate. I'm anal enough to know it was designed in 1986 for the British K2 expedition though! I don't think anything of it but I suppose the hiking/climbing gear obsession is a bit weird to some. That is one gorgeous coat though.
