Arsenal are owned by American businessman Stan Kroenke. He owns 5 major sports teams throughout the world. It would be like Aon going under for the rags. Their financial situation isn't tied to the advertiser as is our own club. Arsenal are paid some 20 mil per year for naming rights and jersey sponsor (I believe). While it may be hard to find a replacement, if Emirates went under Arsenal would carry on.

You're mate is poorly informed.

he said the Emirates Airline not Arsenal

Reread what he posted. He's inferring that Arsenal players are jumping ship because of some sort of financial issue with Emirates. Emirates do not own the team.

IF and its a big IF this is true I would suggest her is trying to infer that players are leaving because Arsenal are not buying anyone and using the cash for Emirates, as opposed to making signings and challenging. Personally I cant see it but who I am to comment on that.

I don't reckon they get £20m a year from Emirates...I seem to remember that when the deal was negotiated, Emirates got a good deal in that it cost them less as Arsenal got a lot of money up front to build the stadium, so I would have thought that if say the deal was say £120m over 6 years and they got £60m up front, then they would only get £10m a year. The figures are bigger and the number of years are bigger as well, but you get the idea...

SSN just said we are in final negotiations on this deal.

On another interesting note, I bumped into an old friend in town yesterday who dabbles alot in shares/stocks. Knowing I was a blue we got chatting about our signing's and why it appears Arse players are jumping ship. He told me that Emirates were apparently upto 5bn in debit and not wanting to see them go under, guess who has apparently bailed them out .... our owner (or his family).

Found this on the topic <a class="postlink" href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009/nov/30/emirates-airline-collateral-dubai-debt" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009 ... dubai-debt</a>

city ruining airlines since..............
.....2009. The Emirates airline is from Dubai which had problems a few years back and were bailed out by none other than our own owners family in Abu Dhabi. This is very old news and his friend has obviously heard an obscure excuse from a friend.

That doesn't make sense.

Sorry "your". I've had a few, I'm on holiday in the states. Even if Arsenal had issues with their sponsor it it wouldn't affect their personnel. I'm not sure how this could be any more clear.

Sky Sports sources understand Manchester City are in the final stages of negotiations regarding the proposed signing of Arsenal's Samir Nasri.

City have been chasing Nasri's signature all summer and they are now thought to be close to bringing the France international to the Etihad Stadium.

Talks between both clubs are thought to be at an advanced stage and the North West outfit are hoping to make the talented midfielder their latest summer capture.

The 24-year-old's future at Arsenal has been the subject of conjecture for some time, with the Frenchman refusing to sign a new deal at the Emirates.

Gunners chief Arsene Wenger was hopeful of keeping one of his key men at the Emirates, but it appears he has now decided to sell rather than risk losing him for nothing when his contract expires next summer.

Nasri has not featured for Arsenal so far this season and it appears he is on the verge of sealing his switch away from the club.

His signing would be a major boost for City boss Roberto Mancini as he looks to mount a serious bid for the Premier League title this season.

Anyone else think it's possible Nasri could have had his medical elsewhere, maybe in London just to keep this undetected? Sky seem certain we aren't far off the signing which means he must have had it.

Forgive me for not getting my hopes up but this transfer has been in its final stages since January 1804

Says in the French press that Nasri is holding out for a deal with you know who, but Wenger is saying "Over my dead body will I sell to them."

I find it odd that he treats City as less of a rival when last season they were knocked into 4th by yours truely.

One thing that will clear alot of the tranfer tittle tattle up, if Sneijder suddenly signs for them, it means that they were trying for Nasri all along.

A club that tweets from the boardroom isn't a club that is interested in hiding its proceedings. When the deal is struck... its struck. Today is the closest and most absolute in news we've heard thus far.

My brother in law decided to take his son on one of the ground tours yesterday and he asked the guide when was Nasri turning up ??? The guide told him he didn't know but he had recieved an email that morning and it told him that the press office and the changing rooms may well be out of use for the tour and if they were he was to give everyone a refund. There are two conclusions you can make from that, either the deal is all but done or they have hit a glitch which has delayed it. Might be worth ringing the ground and asking what time the tours are today and see if any are cancelled.

You could also take it that they are refurbishing the press room at UEFA's request

Why would the changing rooms also be shut ??? And if it was being refurbed wouldn't you think the contracter would give the club a little more than a few hours notice they were turning up ??
