What do our homegrown numbers look like if Ake leaves along with Sterling?

Phillips, Foden, Stones, Walker, Grealish and Carson enough?
 
The home-grown stuff is really a non-issue. Pep doesn't even want a 25-man squad. He clearly prefers a squad of 20-22 players (3 goalkeepers included). The rest are made of youth players.

Anyway, the way the rumours are going we could end up with a fairly big turnover in the squad. Which is concerning IMO. Will certainly be interesting to see who we sign if we sell Ake. He offers cover for both CB and LB.

The way the media rumours are proliferating we will sell the entire squad at this rate……

It’s easy money. Ake is worth about £24m on our books, so we are looking at £25m-30m straight profit on him, then a new signing on around £8m-10m amortisation per year, replacing Ake’s £8m per year cost. No brainer. As much as he’s come into his own of late, he is only 4th choice and that means we can take a purely financial decision on this, imo.
 
Not for me, 1 more season and see where he fits in.

It works for us and him new contract, if not we could sell then.

Seems a risk and some fans more bothered about us posting a profit to shut up the scousers then what is really best for our squad.

Spoiler Alert: Scousers will moan whatever and actually it winds them up more when we have the 40-50 million pound players on the bench.

We are running out of homegrown players. Need a minimum of 8 in a squad of 25 if I'm not mistaken. Sterling and Ake makes it tight unless we get a homegrown in to replace one of these two

Our squad is nowhere near 25 so it's not an issue - think it was only 19 last season.

The rule is that you can only have 17 non-homegrown, and we have something like 13 at the moment, so plenty of room for extra players wherever they're from.
 
I like Ake a lot, and think he gives us that bit of physicality and grit we lack outside of Dias. But realistically - we can't expect him to stay as 4th choice here when he could be starting at Chelsea, and it'd be insane for City to turn down an offer where we'd make a healthy profit off of him.

So if Chelsea is serious, I'd imagine he's gone. We do need to find a replacement for all of these outgoing though.

Quite the shake up this summer is shaping out to be.
