I think we overpaid for him, but he’s got over a couple of problems and injuries and played as good a role as any of our defenders last season. Why we would now sell him, just as he’s got up to speed is puzzling. I can only think he’s asked to go, knowing the Chelsea interest, or Pep thinks 3 CBs is enough with the signing of Phillips. Either way, if Chelsea want him, £55m should be the minimum.

Can only think they must have offered ~£50m.

Nice guy, he did well when called upon.

We can get a decent backup centre back for less than that and put the rest towards a winger.

Now we need to sign a replacement. Not Pau Torres who is the next Isco or Joao Felix, but someone versatile. I mean Gvardiol, L.Hernandez, Lisandro Martinez, Hermoso, someone in that profile.
 
Really sorry to see him go. I was really keen for City to sign him and although we havent seen the best of him, last season was much more promising from him and was hoping he'd kick on this year.

Having said that, from a club perspective if we get £50 million for him, then it's probably a good deal all round.

Atletico wants to sell Mario Hermoso who is a similar fit to Ake. But IMO Gvardiol or Lisandro Martinez would be a nice fit.

All left-footed, versatile, and agressive center backs. Pau Torres is the next Isco or Joao Felix, that guy is unable to play as a LB.
 
Fuck me never seen a window like it have we ever had so many players moving on before,we may not replace him didnt we give the young lad mbete a new contract and with the EDS coach now working with the first team we may see a few more getting a chance this year ..

Let's go with the thinner squad than so far. It's like committing suicide. Can u imagine a tough time, lots of injuries, and Palmer and Mbete against Real Madrid or Liverpool in the Champions League?

both those guys I'm sure would be great additions but as others have mentioned- it needs to be someone who's 'okay' with being 4th choice or we're going to run into the same issue we currently have with Ake who wants a bigger role.
 
I would expect Gvardiol and Martinez would want to be starters at their new clubs, slim chance of that happening here
