Proven world class?

When was this? Certainly not at Sevilla. He has never performed at a world class level at any point in his career.
Are you for real?
That's why I won't even respond to that stupidity ..to question navas's class is laughable
There's nothing controversial in what I posted tbh. World class players affect games with much more regularity than someone like Navas.

My definition of world class is when you're in the top 4/5 players in the world in your position. Please give me a time period where you think he's been amongst the top 5 wingers on the planet, because he's definitely not at the moment. There's at least 15 wingers I could think of that I think are better than him, how could I call someone world class that I don't think is in the top 15 in their own position?

Navas has never been in that class. He's an impact player at this level. Hope he starts to have more effect on games and he changes my opinion of him but from what I've seen from him at Sevilla and his first few games here I don't think it will happen.

He was 2nd best winger in Spain and is the best in England

As ever depends what you mean by World Class. No he's not up there with Robben, Ribery, Bale and Di Maria. I can think of Draxler, and maybe Hazard (if you regard him as a winger, I don't) but I can't stretch to 15. You must have a very good knowledge of football.

You do realise that Real Madrid wanted him to initially replace an outgoing Di Maria don't you?

The lad is the best winger in the league at the moment, no doubt about it. Ben Arfa pushes close with moments of magic but when Navas is on the field I always believe we are a threat on the break. The lad is RAPID and has a great delivery. Just you wait till he fully gels and the attackers can predict where he will deliver the ball. 20+ assists beckon.

Spains best wingers are Pedro and him. He often gets played and he has made his big move. Give him this season before judging because staying at Seville hindered his C.V to date imo.

He has occasionally outpaced fullbacks and put crosses in though, its certainly not 'never', but maybe that is not what the manager is asking him to do with his game, just because we as fans like to see a winger in full flow, doesn't mean the manager does, he also has to fit in with the rest of the teams play, and just bombing past the fullback wouldn't. I think he's linked up well with the team in some games, but not so in others.

Its early days, lets see how he develops within the team.

I think he outpaced Fellaini (running in quicksand) when we humped the scum

No he wasn't and no he isn't.

Off the top of my head I'd have all these over him. All well known players as well:

Ribery
Robben
Reus
Blaszczykowski
Draxler
Di Maria
Pedro
Koke
Neymar
Lavezzi
Lucas Moura
Hulk
Hazard
Willian
Schurrle
Lamela

Then you have players that I wouldn't really class as wingers but play out wide quite often like Ronaldo, James Rodriguez, Gotze, Muller, Bale, Jovetic, Mata, Arda Turan etc, all of which I'd also have out wide before Navas. I don't throw the term 'world class' around loosely and he isn't anything approaching that tag in my book.

People have said it before and I'll say it again. If Real Madrid had wanted him, he'd be at Real Madrid.

I hope he does get 20+ assists. I just don't think he will.

Koke has started to edge ahead of him in recent games and will take his spot soon I reckon. Spain don't have many great wide options at the moment anyway. Would he get into Germany/Brazil/Argentina's squads? Not for me.

You've got a very talented list of layers there, but are they wingers?

Lamela is not better than Navas. Neither is Schurrle. Willian is a winger? I'm not sure I'd describe Neymar, and Lavezzi as wingers either. They are wide forwards. I don't rate Hulk either.

Navas isn't world class but he's very, very good and has the potential to offer so much for this team. Don't think we've seen the best of him yet but he's done well enough so far for me. That Nasri goal against the rags shows a lot of what he's about and what he will offer us. Just give the lad time

Schurrle, Willian, Neymar and Lavezzi are all players that 95% of the time I've watched them have played out wide.

Lamela produced more last season than Navas has done in any season in his entire career.

Take all those players out of the list if you want, you've still got about 10 players to choose from that you've took no issue with me saying are better than Navas. He just isn't a world class player.

Silva struggled in his first month.

I've only been to the home games so far. I thought he was outstanding against Newcastle, and Utd, but poor against Hull when everyone was poor. I thought he should have done better against a poor Everton side. We bossed that game, but he didn't do much. And he came on as a sub in the League Cup and scored.
