Did you go to the Blackburn game and notice how much we missed him in that game? He is one of the best at what he does in the prem, breaks up attacks time after time, hardly ever gives it away and is always in the right place. That is what he is in the team to do and it allows others on the pitch to play there game, it's that simple. Top 2/3 in the prem at what he does.
I didn't think we missed him at all......
If anything it was a positive: we played the best attacking football we have played all season.
But did you notice how much space they got in the middle of the park, plus we didn't win. What about my other points or have you just chosen to ignore them?

Supreme technical ability and reading of the game combined with decent physicality and tackling.
The way I see it you have two kind of DMs: passers and physical monsters
De Jong is neither.

I disagree with your points totally Sabster. They're just wrong.
And I have to say that your decision to air these criticisms now of all times is just weird considering today was the possibly the most offensive I've ever seen Big Nige play.
He demonstrated his usual all-action destructive part of his game brilliantly as per.
But when he was in possession he - whenever possible - looked to stretch the Chelsea back-line and played through some great incisive balls.
I fucking adore the man and rate him very very highly.

So you consider 2 City managers and the Netherlands Manger "uneducated idiots". Interesting.
de Jong played in a team that reached the World Cup Final and only lost it in extra time so if that doesn't make him "world class" I don't know what does.
His job is to protect the back 4 which he does brilliantly. He reads the game fantastically which allows him to be in the right place to make the tackle. His mangers don't want him to sacrifice that to roam upfield. Look what happened to Chelski when Essien was up field attacking, Tevez got at the back 2 and scored.
He is a world class DM, there may be better ones at getting up field when they win the ball but they aren't a patch on him defensively which is his main job. Yes against "weaker" teams you could rest him and let Ya Ya Toure protect the back 4 but in the big games against world class midfield's he'd be any managers first name on the team sheet

You are clearly very stupid.
Unless you are trying to claim that De Jong being slow is just my opinion and that in reality he is very fast incredibly strong and wins everything in the air.
Furthermore here are some more FACTS for you.
Last season:
Mashcherano made 2x tackles as De Jong and 1.5x Succesful passes
Barry about 1.3x as many tackles and 1.2x succesful passes.
We have not lost a game when De Jong has not played for 18 months.
We got overun in midfield on numerous occasions last season when our midfield was bypassed.
