There's the ship to represent Manchester and the red rose is for the historic association with Lancashire for when Manchester was part of it. I like it.It’s the Lancashire rose, so the people from Lancashire seem to like it.
But a lot of people want the badge to represent Manchester, and the Lancashire rose doesn’t do that.
Is it really retro? It isn't a piece of furniture, it is a football club badge.Retro things date very quickly
Not sure what your reference to furniture and retro is?Is it really retro? It isn't a piece of furniture, it is a football club badge.
What if we hadn't changed the round badge for that star and budgie monstrosity in the first place, would you call that badge, old, tired?
For the new design would you have gone with, something modern, they just tried that with one replacement and made a monumental fuck up.
It should never have been changed in the first place and this 'new' badge corrects the previous error imo.
Me too, don't get the downer on the red rose, only thing I'd change would be to stick a little Bee in the middle of it, somewhere that represents Manchester's location within Lancashire, cool as fuck that ;-).There's the ship to represent Manchester and the red rose is for the historic association with Lancashire for when Manchester was part of it. I like it.
Furniture would be described as retro, as opposed to a badge, that was the reference. Not sure what your reference to furniture and retro is?
invented by man can be retro, ie the new Mini, the new Beetle etc in terms of cars.
Architecture, art, music and fashion even people can be retro
Francis Lee had to change the original badge, the club no longer owned the copyright to it, hence the change.
The new badge is good but in my opinion could have been a lot better.
The ship is a great feature of the "new" badge, and should and could be more prominent, the 3 rivers (stripes) a bit naff to me, the red rose of Lancashire , is that relevant in modern times?Furniture would be described as retro, as opposed to a badge, that was the reference.
Did you say the badge was good originally?
You said it was okay but looked dated already.
I asked how and you replied retro things date very quickly.
So I ask how is a round badge that looks as much like the original as possible is looking dated and what do you want a badge to look like on a football shirt?
I used the example of if our original badge hadn't changed and would that now look old tired or retro?
For me if it never changed it wouldn't look old or tired or retro as that would be our badge.
So I ask again what would you have wanted that didn't age after 5 years of the star monstrosity?
Dont forget there is a bit of black in it ....and IIRC we had a decent shirt with those 2 colours in it ( Joke Joke Joke )Well, apart from the colour you mean?

All badges/logo's date with time, that's why when using retro styling designers have to be very careful as the design date far more quickly than a original design.
The new badge is good, but I was slightly underwhelmed when it came out, as said in my humble it could and should have looked a lot better, but each to their own.
