Nearly 5 years on - how do you feel about the new badge?

I always find it a bit sad that Lancashire was drastically reduced, not just by the forming of Greater Manchester but moving of boundaries putting the Lake District and Barrow etc in Cumbria. Especially as I know a few Yorkshire types that think that county is largely independent from the rest of the U.K.

I was 4 when Greater Manchester was formed. The narrative I imagined was Conservative governments smiting the name Lancashire from the map, punishing it for its Labour support.

Probably all nonsense.
It is always interesting to see how far the LA postcode goes throughout Cumbria, I never realised until I became a courier lol

South Cumbria (including Barrow in Furness, Kendal, Ulverston, Windermere, Dalton in Furness, Millom, Milnthorpe, Sedbergh, Grange over Sands, Askam in Furness, Kirby in Furness, Broughton in Furness, Coniston and Ambleside)

But the CA postcode coming down and across as far down as Kirby Stephen, Ravenstonedale and as far as Garsdale head, with West Yorkshire sweeping round.

I went to the Club presentations at the media room in the training complex. It was given by Gary James and the whole reasoning around the badge was explained in great detail. I like the badge but personally would have tried to get the Bee on it somewhere.
Those sessions were part of the consultation where I presented on all the elements of the previous badges; the history of all the badges and discussed elements like the bee that meant something to Manchester but hadn’t made it on to any of the badges. At the time the consultation did ask fans about the bee but hardly anyone wanted it. Things have changed since then but I do know some senior officials had been keen to include the bee but there just wasn’t the support from those fans who submitted their views via the consultation process.

It should say 1880- not 1894. Other than that, its a thing of beauty.
Although there may be games before 1880 (research is ongoing but it’s very odd that a first game gets reported in 4 different newspapers and none of them say ‘the first game of...’. I am convinced there would’ve been earlier games). The club chose 1894 as that’s the year MCFC came into being. The real issue should be with MUFC and other teams who use dates for their earlier incarnations as their current club’s formation date. They should all be consistent.

On the origins... subscribers to my website can read the facts here: https://gjfootballarchive.com/2021/03/09/the-origins-of-manchester-city-facts-not-fiction/ Cheers.

Love it just as much as the original one. Just looking at the eagle monstrosity should teach us to never mess with perfection again.
