Need another world class defender......

we do have EPL quality players in abundance, they need replacing with world class if the club's ambitions are to be realised . Wont be easy, wont be cheap ( we need 5 minimun imo) certainly no more stopgaps. The trend for all-action high-tempo play means the age of players is ever more crucial, a fair few of our squad are physically incapable of it Be interesting to see what happens.....

Depends on how much Denyer is rated and how Mangala and Otamendi finish the season, if he can come back and replace Demi we have 4 CB's granted Vinny is injured a lot. Stones I do not see would want to go anywhere not guaranteed first choice and I do not see him better then Kompany and Otamendi at this point. Granted if he would want to come I think we should have him as he is talented and English (at the very least we should push up the price for whoever he moves to). We need a RB and I think Sagna contract is up so makes sense to let him go despite the fact he has found a bit of form. A quality fast attacking RB who can also defend (probably easier said then found) and Zaba to rotate. Angelino is due back from New York so be interesting to see how well he is rated as he should be pushing for a starting place, if not he would need a loan deal to assess next season so would sell Kolarov and try and do business with Wolfsburg again this time for Rodriguez and then hopefully Angelino for Clichy.

Feel a good quality CM or 2 are more important. Dinho and Delph can probably do a job against all but the best, the energy will make us harder to get at the defense but Nando and Yaya (in a 2) no longer need to be considered options after this season.

Probably also need a new striker, one who can play anywhere in the front 4 as we need top quality here that would not be on the bench when Aguero plays.

morrata up top and aguro deeper with silva de bruyne wide i also think we need a quality defensive mid i like krychowiak but lets see surely we have to sign in jan.

Can't understand how anyone wouldn't think we need a class CB. Not only do we need a defender but we need one that can organise the defence when Kompany isn't playing which is becoming more and more frequent. MDM just isn't good enough, Mangala 18 months into his career still not convinced me and have to be honest and say I even think Otamendi been hit and miss.

So we definitely need one with Denayer replacing MDM and possibly try and sell Mangala for a huge loss. But can't see Everton selling stones until the summer at the earliest.

boring but save our money (FFP wise) so we can go big in the summer.

The players who you can buy in Jan is very limited.

Bring Denayer back, get rid of Mangala & Demichelis in the summer. And our full backs need replacing bad, especially right back.

I was a bit worried with the Pellegrini interview on SSN, where he basically said he's always going to play the same way and dismissed criticism of our defence. Surely he needs to realise that when you've got a defence featuring a 34 year-old (35 in two weeks), a 32 year old (33 in February) who's played pretty much every game this season, and a 30 year old who's never been particularly pacey or had amazing defensive positioning, it doesn't make sense to play a high defensive line against a team with tons of pace and energy? None of these players are bad defenders, but we have to accept their limitations, especially when they're being forced to player twice a week. I think in the summer, you have to look at bringing in a RB and LB who are both young and world class. And most importantly, they have to have the qualities to play the system we want to play. I think the CB four of Kompany, Otamendi, Mangala and Denayer is pretty strong though, and I wouldn't see any need to strengthen that in the summer, unless Mangala wants to leave for first team football.

We can't just keep throwing money at the problem. It's a system issue relating to how we react off the ball. We quite clearly don't do much work on defensive shape during the week, nor do we work on pressing from the front. Too many players who are only interested in playing when we have the ball and to make up for it you have other players trying to put out fires all over the pitch.
