Nice touch that, good luck to the beast......

What is this obligation to buy thing all about?

Is it an obligation only if he gets over his injury or are they skint and we're getting round that by offering him on a buy now pay later deal?

For the benefit of anyone who doesn't have Twitter I thought I'd post the image very touching whatever the reason behind his departure I can't help but have massive respect for all that he did during his short stint with us

A lesson in how to leave a club without making everyone think you're a right ****. Or realising you're a right **** for some.

Best of luck to him. Leaves a champion and the fans will always see him as a hero.

Great player last season for us was The Beast!! That goal against Spurs was world class. Heard a few rumours that his wife hated living here? I suppose living in a Cheshire mansion with an almost endless supply of money is somebody's vision of hell, well it's not mine but I'm a materialistic money grabber!! Hoping he didn't leave because of that because Valencia is a major step down but if your family isn't happy then you become unhappy, and it serves no purpose having a unhappy player on your books and it's great business financially but I just think he has unfinished business at City?? Thank you Beast and good luck

To be honest can you blame her? Its not stopped raining all summer! Might not matter if you've come over from Iceland or Siberia but when you've just left Spain the shit weather might not be so easy to ignore ;-)

It's always going to be a problem for us - putting your Manchester and City allegiance to one side for a moment, if someone offered you £5m to live and play in sunny Spain or Italy or £6m to live and play in wet and cold Manchester which would you choose? When you're earning that sort of money a few hundred thousand a year isn't going to come into it - you can still afford a huge house, a few flash cars etc.

Just watched his unavailing on the Valencia site 12,000 people turned up .there is also a highlight video god did he score some good goals for us.his goal against spurs is probably my all time favourite .will be sadly missed

Great player. And, most importanly, a great attitude. He'll be missed for sure.

One thought though, does anybody think this will affect Navas by any chance? We know he's had problems with homesickness and now losing his close friend might have an adverse affect. Just a thought.

He can talk with David, Kun, Martin, Zaba and Willy. They all played in Spain and speak Spanish, so obviously they have a lot in common.

Interesting:

By lunchtime on transfer deadline day, Alvaro Negredo was bound for Valencia. A conference call between executives at Manchester City had confirmed the move, with manager Manuel Pellegrini having the final say.

Negredo had made an outstanding start to his career in the Premier League, but then his stay turned sour. It was a personal financial matter and nothing to do with football, but it meant Negredo and his wife, Clara, were no longer happy in their new country. It is even possible to spot the moment when Negredo’s dissatisfaction begins and his form falls off a cliff. He scores 26 goals up to January 21, and none after.

Pellegrini’s view was a compassionate one. He knew Negredo’s departure would leave City short up front, but felt the player was as good as lost to the club, even if he stayed. It would be kinder to let him go home. If required, Yaya Toure or David Silva could be pushed into a more forward role. Anyway, the offer from Valencia was a good one: £25million, plus add-ons. With an eye on the demands of financial fair play, this was sensible business for City.

From Martin Samuel in the Daily Fascist.

That pass to Milner against Fulham.....wow. I'll remember him as a bloody good footballer who matched his skill with grit.

I don't suppose this was anything to do with those rumours of him rubbing up someone the wrong way in town? Or something. I don't fucking know its nearly 5am.

Class act. He changed after that shoulder injury at WHU. It certainly looked like he was trying hard - but lost some composure and strength in the games he featured in after. He played his part in our history.
