New City fan: what should I know?

Resurrection, welcome. Log on to Simon Curtis's blog. He's writes as if he's halfway between a nutter and a poet, but as much of a blue as any of us. I love his newspaper clippings from thirty years ago. Geekiness taken to a new level.
Was in Montreal for work three months back or so. Since I don't know if I'll ever be back there, I took the plunge, spent more money on any single sporting event than I've ever spent in my life (I don't dare say the price of the ticket, I thought, well, sod it, it's a one-off) in going to see the Stanley Cup play-off between the Canadiens "Habs" and New York Rangers. Pure adrenalin from first to last second. That evening, I felt a bit Canadian. French Canadian, mind you…

So I've been hanging around here reading and throwing in some comments where I can, I've also watched the movie "Blue Moon Rising". As a new City supporter, what should I know?

Some background on me... I'm Canadian and (of course) love hockey. My grandparents on my Mothers side (Ukrainian) were displaced by WW2 and met in Manchester. It's there my Mom was born and just a few years later they sailed for Canada and a new life. So I feel an affinity for Manchester and couldn't see myself being a Reds fan (they seem like real spoiled brats to me). Now with our cable showing so many BPL matches I can actually choose a side and follow a club, which I think is far more fun than just following the league as a whole.

Oh and I also wonder too when they release the schedule each year for the Premiership, how many months in advance. I'm getting married next year and my fiancee has agreed to see a football match in Europe on our way to the honeymoon.
Things you should know: it's the "Premier League" not the Premiership. The Premiership is a rugby union competition.

Also don't use a load of Americanizms and i'll like you (fixtures, not schedule...Prem/Prem Lg/Premier League, not BPL)

That's it!

Squad, not roster. Season, not term. And we don't shout ''IN THE HOOOOLE'' when someone is taking a shot!

And it's ''al-you-mini-yum'' not ''a-loo-me-num'', right? Two 'u's in it, see?

Bloody yanks
.
