New striker?

Iv been talking to my friend who just graduated from university in sports science, i was talking to him about injuries just in convo and he said the injury aguero has may change him as a player, at the age he has sustained the meniscus injury it can be incredibly difficult to recover to your best. its an injury that takes 4 to 6 weeks to heal but the after effects are worse. He told me hes seen athletes that lose power in that leg, a rugby player he had to do a study on did his meniscus and he was a kicker, he lost half of his kicking ability because of the meniscus injury, pace takes ages to come back as well, i honestly think thats why we are looking at a stiker. I love Aguero but hand on heart hope it dosent happen but i think this injury may come up a lot next season, the amount of games we play as well. from what my friend says it only takes a knock/collision for that knee to flare up again, then your out for 2 to 3 weeks recovery again.

My wum sense is tingling.

Pretty sure the silver Lake money isn't counted as income and is a CFG investment so can't be off set against FFP. FFP is relaxed this year but as I understand only rolled into next year so we can spend this summer but it will reduce next summers spending if we exceed our allowed losses. I think.

Its cash. Cash flow ends businesses. Its why some clubs are taking out loans. But they can be expensive to finance and some may be at debt ceilings. There will be plenty of clubs that can only carry on with cash in from selling players since other cash flows have dried up

I do think we're gambling on fitness a bit if we don't have a third option of some kind. We don't want another Laporte situation but up front.

Think you might be right, would argue that we have lots of players capable of playing up front who aren't naturals (Sterling, Mahrez, Bernardo, Torres) but when they have in the past we have looked so much less threatening.

Convinced we would benefit from an aerial threat too.

Just as unlikely as Harry Kane but how about Benzema as a stop gap? Real Madrid could with the money as well as Spurs
Stop gap, you answered your question.

We need a long term replacement now, good for everyone, Kun included.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like Sterling has the makings of a CF despite his clever positioning, and none of the others quite work excluding when the false 9 is actually beneficial.

Maybe a youngster who's a bit like Lucas, Son, or Rashford. Not a striker, but can play the position well enough in case of emergency.

Or a Jesus, Martial, Aubameyang, Griezmann type ie strikers who can reliably play elsewhere if necessary.

Basically I think we shouldn't go for a specialist striker, unless they're so outstandingly good and available that we'd be dumb not to get them.

Hopefully its a tactic for Kane to get a better deal out of Spurs for a new contract. He is Mr Spurs afterall

Better option than Kane but not realistic though.
The rumours are increasing so it looks a possibility, Kane fit and healthy would improve us, but his injury record worries me , especially at the prices mentioned.

Still has another four seasons on his existing contract, expires June 2024. Normally, the chatter to extend would start three to two years out from expiry, but given the global/local circumstances, his representatives might want the extra security now, especially if he is to remain a one-club man.
From our perspective, I think we’re probably testing the water ahead of a possible bid next year, know what would be asked, but by then I think much will have changed.

No harm in Kane squeezing more money out the club, even with existing contract. and players have linked us to move (even if they are baseless) as an effective tactic to get a new deal. As for us I am hoping that we avoid signing him.

Suspect the Tottenham lemon is dry and there’s no more juice to be squeezed, but the rumours will stupidly rumble on throughout the season.

Once we’ve completed our signings and the ‘fabricated’ amounts have been tallied, it’ll be patently obvious, even for the English media, that we’re simply not going to spend 200 million on Kane this window, or ever; the difference between that sum and our most expensive signing to date is too great, and would probably account for most of our business this summer. They’ll also recognise that our focus now is on youth and mobility, attributes that Kane, like most of us, is no longer blessed with.

I'm quite sure Aguero will get a injury next season. Since he joined City he have to be in the top amongst strikers to be away due to injury. 81 missed games. Do we feel safe just to have Jesus to rely on if so? We seen B.Silva as a false 9 but nah thanks. Or Sterling?
I would love to have a striker that can switch with Jesus time to time.
Fingers crossed he doesn't, obviously, but we can't be sure. If he does, however, we've no natural finisher. Jesus does make good runs, works hard, etc but he's far from an instinctive finisher and looks to me as if he struggles with confidence sometimes. Aguero is one of the best the PL has ever seen, we're not going to find anyone close to his ability, but I'd feel much more confident if we did manage to find someone that we can rely on in front of goal.

We have scored 80 goals this season without Sergios input.
And you all think we have a problem

IMO we do not need a direct replacement. We create a whole host of chances when Gabby plays and though Sergio is an utter legend, I feel the team is just as dangerous without his presence.

I can see why Sergio might not be involved in our run in, in the champions league look at this.

"If you have arthroscopic surgery to treat your torn meniscus and your job involves sedentary work (mostly sitting), you may be able to return to work one to two weeks after surgery, with full recovery in about four to eight weeks. If you are an athlete or your job requires a lot of physical activity, it may take three to four months after surgery before you feel like you have as much function in your knee as you require."
