Red Bulls average around 20k so I can see NYCFC pulling in similar numbers probably more in its debut season. A strong rivalry should develop between the big two New York clubs similar to the rivalry between Portland Timbers vs Seattle Sounders which had an attendance of just under 70k last week.

MLS is definitely growing, started watching it quite a bit this year and it is a very underrated league. The fans are brilliant as well much louder and colourful than fans in England particularly Portland and Seattle.

This is regarded by most in the know as probably the worst possible option. The Yankee Stadium can barely fit a football pitch at all. Some places the pitch virtually goes into the stands, others end up 50m away from the byline. It would destroy the atmosphere. On top of that, you'd be playing on relaid turf over the top of the baseball dirt after every single game. I've only seen negative reactions to this idea.

Re: New York City

The best place for a stadium would have been NYC's west side, in the area being developed west of Penn Station, but that option fizzled out when the Mets failed to move there a few years ago. The site in the park in Queens which MCFCs owners were looking at would be the next best choice but that's become embroiled in NYC politics. if mayor Bloomberg could have got it through quickly it'd be under construction now, but as it is there's a mayoral election coming up and the candidates are either against it or not openly supporting it. So for now Yankee bloody stadium is what we're stuck with.

Re: New York City

Staying at Yankee stadium is fecking out of the question, they play something like 80 games per season there.
It will be bad enough having to find dates for NYCFC to play there temporary.

Besides, I can´t really see our Abu Dhabi owners satisfied with anything but their own stadium.

if you think the Flushing Meadows Park is a political hot potato, then the West Side is a politcial BOMB. No way thats happening, thats a non starter. The Jets tried FOR YEARS to get a stadium built there an were rebuffed. That project would have brought many high profile events in NY City as well and the people/politicians wouldnt go for it......

The NY papers say that this spot is the one most seriously discussed for a new stadium.

Hmm walking distance (well, 9 miles so not really) from my weekday gaff but on the #4 subway and Metro North commuter rail. Excellent spot. They could even tear down that ugly pile in the top right corner.

The traffic would become even more horrendous, especially with the Deegan right there. I still think putting it in Queens is the best option, but not that viable via public transportation as it is more than a few blocks from the 7 train. Another problem is that alot of the buildings are residential, hard to work with the zoning of a stadium with so many residential areas.

Nasri reveals MLS ambition

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri claims he would like to experience life in the American MLS before heading back to his roots at Marseille.

The France international is in no rush to leave the Etihad Stdaium, having penned a long-term contract upon his arrival in 2011.

He is, however, aware that the time will come to move on at some stage.

A return to Marseille would certainly appeal to a man who graduated out of the academy system at Stade Velodrome, but Nasri concedes that such a switch forms no part of his immediate plans.

The 26-year-old told L'Equipe: "Clearly, economic reality stops me from thinking about playing at OM right now.

"In the future, I don't know yet. I would like to discover the MLS. I love American culture."

For now, Nasri remains very much part of the set-up at Manchester City, with new Blues boss Manuel Pellegrini having made it clear that he is counting on the talented playmaker to raise his game and rid himself of the inconsistencies which marred his 2012/13 campaign.

Nasri added: "I had a talk with Manuel Pellegrini. We'll see what happens.

"He came to me the first day and told me that he was counting on me, that I would be an important player, that I was going to play.

"We'll see - I'm not worrying about it. If I'm good, the coach will play me. He's just arrived and he has to get results."<br /><br />-- Wed Sep 04, 2013 3:41 pm --<br /><br />Will we see some of our players heading over there?? Maybe even Barry next year

Reckon they could be Manhattan City Football Club? That way they could wear the same shirt as us, increasing sales
I'm pretty sure all MLS teams are required to wear Adidas kits?
