Newcastle (a) post match thread

The overlapping has been distinctly absent this season.
Nobody in their right mind would want Walker or Danilo/Delph overlapping anyway. It’s just going to concede possession and then leave us over-committed and exposed to the counter. So Pep would much rather leave the full backs in areas where they should be able to control the opposition (though Walker does his best to make it as difficult as possible). I agree with the lack of overlaps. What’s lacking is quick passing to draw the opposition out of position and quick diagonals to get one v ones for the wingers. Well, we try a lot of the diagonals but so often they are poorly executed or we are offside.

WHY ?? We were shit tonight and I truly despair at the happy clappers who can see no problems. Its OK to beat teams from other divisions, but apart from the Dipper game,we have been pretty average in PL games.Huddersfield was average and Wolves in the end we won against 10 men.
Certainly not the team we were last year.
Tonight was a glorious opportunity to get within a point of Liverpool. We were shocking in every department tonight and if you think for one moment that Pep is a happy bunny then thats one of the fanny`s to wipe.

Who the fuck said Pep would be happy?

Where did i say i was happy?

I'm as pissed about last night as everyone else, we were utter shite from start to finish, piss poor passing, lack of movement, lethargic and no intensity.

But if anyone thinks that the title is over with 14 games to go then they need to get a grip.

We desperately lack a natural left back, i'd buy someone tomorrow if possible, Danilo keeps cutting in which upsets our balance, walker is having a torrid time of late and for all the talk of how our best 3 central players are finally back together that didn't work either. Silva should have buried that chance at 1-0 and it'd be a different story this morning but he didn't.

I had to laugh at the pre-match thread. Predictions of 3,4 and I even saw 7! Gutted as everyone else but that’s why a lot of us will always have our doubts about a game. ‘Typical city’ will never go away its with us forever :). That type of performance last night where the whole side and manager never turned up was a little different to some other defeats. Palace we were still pushing hard to get back in the game. Last night the passion just didn’t seem there from anyone. A number of us have said for a few weeks now, Pep has not been as energetic on the touch line and is often just slumped in his seat. Don’t know if this is frustration at a lack of player acquisitions or what. All very frustrating last night and the young ones will think the world has ended! We are going to need to spend big in the summer, as all rivals will and we can’t afford to get left behind. So many positions need replacing that’s the issue, so we might need to bring some youngsters through as well. But you know what this is where are at our best as fans with our backs to the wall. Let’s get behind the lads on Sunday, we have plenty to play for this season and hopefully normal service will be resumed.

Klopp was asked in October/November (I think) who can beat City to the title and he said something like it is only City that can beat themselves. And it's exactly what we've been doing in the past two months .We've had three carbon-copy losses in the last 6 weeks and I have no clue how Pep addresses this problem, which is huge in my opinion. It is one thing to lose the game to a better team, but to lose to mediocre sides after controlling the games for 75-80% times is like we are lobotomised mid-game. In the hindsight, those last 10 minutes against Watford away were the precursor of things to come.

Well put. I think the game on Sunday just became harder because of this loss. Arsenal have somewhat played with fear against us (not closing down as much, or tackling) knowing that they may get embarrassed. This loss will give them a spring in their step which may make the game harder. Only thing fans can do now is push them on. Support till the end. If the fans don’t, who will?

Yes, there is something in that. We could see it again last night. The players are all clearly agendaists. It’s unsurprising really, given the shit they’ve had to put up with, all the Sterling penalties not given, the amount of times they’ve each been hacked down with the decision being either “no foul”, or “not even a yellow”. It’s like it’s got to them and they almost concede to it.
I posted last night that they sulk. Must say though they must get sick of it. We get nothing and i mean nothing from any official, thats fine we dont want or need their help we are not the dippers, but we deserve a level playing field. Ok lets say the ref was right to disallow that goal (cheating ****) to then give a card was disgraceful changed kev's game completely, hes a dynamic player and was at risk of a red from that moment on. So just when we need him we have to take him off. A clear agenda move if ever i saw one.you can bet your life had that episode been for ANY other club not only would the goal have stood the media would be all over it as genius. Thats why our lads lose faith, they know we are being got at and their efforts are wasted, and that includes Pep and any likely transfer targets.
