Newcastle fans

Yeah me too, even when they signed Shauny Wright and I was pretty heart broken, I still wished him well and applauded him when he came back to play against us. There wasn’t a single boo in the stadium, no reaction like Liverpool fans with Sterling and Sterling didn’t even come through their academy

(although we let ourselves down with the way we reacted to Distin and Sturridge in the past)

Maybe with Distin, but Sturridge deserves the abuse imo.

Yep, we're on about the same game. I had mates up there at Uni, spent plenty of time up there.
We were in a big boozer right in town, so not far at all from the ground.
I remember a great atmosphere and us being screwed by the ref.

I recall the lights of Newcastle twinkling over the top of the stand at the opposite end to us. It was fucking high up there.
Yeah, match was a pisser but our pub crew had a great day out.

Nothing changes, can remember them charging the police horses at Maine Road back in the eighties. They've always been idiots and usually the worst fans to visit us.
Idiots yes, but what about Birmingham fans - always trying to recreate the 70s and 80s hooli days at our place.

I was right next to the guy that tried to jump the barriers. He must have been about 55 years old age with a quite obvious sun bed and steroid addiction. Sad!

The showsec stewards who are perfectly happy to manhandle OAPs out of the ground en masse stayed cowering at the front leaving their colleague , some young student looking fella at the fence to hold the fella and his mob back almost single handlerley for the rest of the game. Cowards!

No sign of the police who were more than likely busy dealing with a major crime elsewhere , ie some one smoking in the bogs. Crime doesn’t crack itself. Priorities!

There was another two kicks off city on city as well. Not sure what started that but Both came to blows. I was sat in a hug over stupor thinkkng how Glad I am to be getting back to the relative safety of the corps for the next few games and the rustling of sweet wrAppers

We were walking by City square nearly an hour after the match had ended and could hear 2 idiots shouting city #ankers manc #unts etc....
They had tried to get served there and told to leave by the looks of it.
I was walking with my little lad and thought here we go :/
When they came into sight walking towards us still giving abuse as they left the area laughing between them like they were 10 men....
Both of them about 16-19 years old
6 stonne wet, they looked up at me smirk went on face and heads went down. I was with a 9 year old ffs :-D absolute dickheads but every club has them. A female steward saw it and looked at me and laughed.

Does anyone know what the Geordie lass was carrying on about next to 111? with the barcode dress shirt on with glasses on? she was embarrasing.

Did you really resent those clubs getting investment? I am surprised. I didn't resent it at all, I enjoyed watching Blackburn pip united to the title on the last day and they were my "second club" all that season. Same with Newcastle under Keegan, I was desperate for them to win the title that year they capitulated and always liked the fact that the money Chelsea had enabled them to put the brakes on united's dominance. Not once did I begrudge any of those clubs, just hoped they would use their spending power to stop united.

It was more born out of the "I wish it was us" mentality than anything else. Seeing similar or less clubs doing better than us was hard to take. I'd become indifferent to United's success in the 90s. We were getting worse and worse while they just kicked on and got bigger and better. Of course, I'd rather they had pipped United to the title at the time, but I still wanted it to be us!

I remember talking to a colleague who is a united fan the week we got bought and he was delighted that it had happened. Said he thought it would be great because Liverpool would drop out of the Champions League places. Suspect he doesn't feel the same now.

He was right though. Probably never envisaged they would too lol.
