Newcastle (H) Post Match Thread

Strange game. We looked edgy and sloppy. It had the feeling that a catastrophic goal could have been conceded at any second or we could have gone and scored 2 or 3 in a whirlwind 10 minutes. Some really poor individual displays. Missed the drive of KDB as well

Think the international break has come at a perfect time. Gives us a break to regroup and recharge

Pep got the formation wrong today, or his players didn't listen. Sterling kept dropping infield next to Mendy, so Mendy had no forward pass. Mahrez needs to learn there's an outside run too!

Lack of width first half made it easy for Newcastle.

Summed it up for me.

2 obvious things.

Mendy wasted if he's got a winger in front of him.
How true. I want us to give 3-5-2 another shot.
Mahrez probably needs to play anywhere but wide right. Techically i think you're saying he should not play

Best team atm contains a midfield of Dinho, Silva and Gundo
Gundo does the good things with relative ease. However I would rather have a more dynamic midfielder playing that role.

With Bernardo, Kun and Raheem.

Least said the better. Laboured, sloppy at times but we still got over the line. That’s why we’re champions.
Feel dirty saying it but Mendy, Mahrez and Fernandinho poor today. Sterling, Stones & Walker, very good. The rest were just ok. Need to make the most of the break now. Pep needs to sit down with Leroy and sort any issues out.
english conspiracy against their not-so-english counterparts. Lol

Today for me confirmed that Bernardo Silva must start every game for us. What a pleasure it is to watch him.

Spot on about the ‘drive’. That was lacking today. Many nice passages of play in midfield, but nobody able to get a grip of the midfield and drive us on like KDB does. We need to keep it going, no matter how until he is back. We missed him badly today.

Generally speaking, City bottles nearly every chance for a fast break. Can't count how many we had today.
No urgency, no feeling for the right moment to pass and find the best option. It's quite poor.

I absolutely don't understand why City don't take these chances of easy goals to finish such a match on the break,
when we are winning against deep sitting teams who have to come out.

That's not good at all. But I am not even sure Pep is unhappy about that.
The order seems to be "when back in possession don't hurry, keep calm, let the opponent get back again,
start a new ball circulation and look for the right moment".

I don't like that. And I also don't understand that kind of boring and wasteful approach.

We have the players for fast breaks, but the way we are doing that is... well is just poor.
