Newcastle (H) Post Match Thread

To be perfectly honest, I was bored in the second half. Would have liked another goal, but the highlights were all in crowd down in Level 1 today.

Slow, poor defending and shoddy going forward.
Dreadful performance.
Without Kevin's drive we are not at the races.
Mendy went to sleep and cost us a goal. He only got a couple of crosses in behind the back line as well.
Aguero was crap. Wrong decision virtually every time. The one on one with the keeper at the end was his match in a nutshell. Didn't chip the keeper, managed to retain possession and with two City players to his right who could pass it in to the net, then decided to shoot to hit the corner flag.
Glad we won but we wont win the title again playing like that.
Two belters as goals though.

Win’s a win, but we did look slow on the transition way too often.

Mahrez got lovely vision and touch at times, but a few too many overhit cut in crosses and did seem to have a touch of the Navas about him when he might have tried to take the guy on. (TBF the FB was showing him the outside all day long and was turned that way ready each time). No doubt it will come once he beds in.

We seemed to be playing with no striker in second half - Kun dropping all afternoon and several through balls down the middle to no-one close.
Plus pull backs we did had nobody following up from CM to the edge of the area. We either seemed all wide or all up front in a line.

Stones and Laporte looked great for me apart from the goal.

Raheem was our biggest threat whenever he got moving - obviously convserving himself seccond half.

Bernardo V lively and almost irresistible.

Anyway, job done and my eldest daughter’s first game was a win, so overall am happy.

An awful bitty frustrating game to watch. Similar to Wolves away but thankfully we got the win today. If Mendy isn't bombing down the wing banging crosses in he isn't doing a great deal bar passing to Sterling and losing possession. Early days I know but a bit of a worry.

We are not flowing, too many players being selfish instead of giving the ball to someone better placed. Mahrez just doesn't look a threat or like he belongs in the side. Its Pep's problem to solve I just hope it doesn't cost us too many points while he is solving it.

Silva and Stones, played well, Sterling and Aguero in patches, Walker too, the rest very average. Bernardo great when he came on. Today we missed Sane's pace for me he must always be an option to have from the bench. A very limited Newcastle caused us panic on the break. Three points is the only bonus from today.

I thought we were too narrow, we never stretched them with width, both wingers preferred to come infield onto their favoured foot, which made us narrow, and played into Newcastle's hands. Would have liked Pep to swap Raheem with Riyad onto opposite channels, even for a short period, just to see how that would have worked.

A gnarly three points, but nevertheless ,three points!

Was hard work but got there in the end. Players looked shattered towards the end
