Not good enough that. They're average at best, performed as such, haven't started the season great and had key players missing yet well deserved their point. Dippers and Arsenal won't struggle to beat them even against a fitter squad. That's a routine win squandered.
We created so little, not giving the greatest goalscorer on the planet an opportunity to score all game is simply criminal. Finding a way to regularly create chances has to be the priority. pep needs to come up with something different because although the results have been there until today, the performances havent. haalands largely carried us in what has been a fairly underwhelming start.
I've been banging on about this in making the argument we're utterly fucked if haaland is unavailable for any period and have to resort to a false 9 that no longer suits our squad as there's just no goals in the side without him. Our left back being our second biggest goal threat is a problem. All our best chances today came from newcastle errors.
Subs should have been made 10-15 minutes earlier, Rico was getting bullied in midfield all game and grealish for some reason second half seemed to be on a 1 man mission to get the dormant home crowd right up for it. It's also just not a sufficient amount of time to expect an impact from the subs
Peps got a lot of work to do here, and needs to be done quickly. Ultimately he's the one that wanted a small 20 man squad consisting of 3 players well into their 30's and a couple of notoriously injury prone players so now he's got to make it work.
