Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Not good enough that. They're average at best, performed as such, haven't started the season great and had key players missing yet well deserved their point. Dippers and Arsenal won't struggle to beat them even against a fitter squad. That's a routine win squandered.

We created so little, not giving the greatest goalscorer on the planet an opportunity to score all game is simply criminal. Finding a way to regularly create chances has to be the priority. pep needs to come up with something different because although the results have been there until today, the performances havent. haalands largely carried us in what has been a fairly underwhelming start.

I've been banging on about this in making the argument we're utterly fucked if haaland is unavailable for any period and have to resort to a false 9 that no longer suits our squad as there's just no goals in the side without him. Our left back being our second biggest goal threat is a problem. All our best chances today came from newcastle errors.

Subs should have been made 10-15 minutes earlier, Rico was getting bullied in midfield all game and grealish for some reason second half seemed to be on a 1 man mission to get the dormant home crowd right up for it. It's also just not a sufficient amount of time to expect an impact from the subs

Peps got a lot of work to do here, and needs to be done quickly. Ultimately he's the one that wanted a small 20 man squad consisting of 3 players well into their 30's and a couple of notoriously injury prone players so now he's got to make it work.

Im always thinking depth is an issue. But it's got worse with these injuries and squad age. Hopefully Nathan's back soon.

Too many fucking games, euros, stupid nations league, extra CL.

We need a cloning facility. It's not fair on them.

We have sat on our laurels whilst our senior players have passed their peak. Our transfer business whilst delivering a healthy bottom line financially has left us with an average bunch of players supporting a couple of galacticos.

Not like you to be negative, fuck only knows what you were like when we were in div 3

What a depressing post

Newcastle fan here.
I respectfully disagree. We have been poor in all our games this season, and were for large parts of last season, mostly down to injuries and fixture congestion last season.
Anyway the way we played today is much more like Howe plays, especially for the 1st 30 minutes.
We have been crying out to play with a higher press all season, Howe has even admitted the performances and way we have played have not been what we expect.
Now that it is back, I expect us to continue with it, once we do, we’ll bounce a load of teams, just like we did the season before last.
I thought it wasn't a pen but on the balance of play a fair result. Titles aren't won until May.

Too critical that. Played away. Early game. Managed the match lovely until that penalty that wasnt. Haaland had a knock to his achilles. One of them days. We did alright with a point

Maybe 1-1 fair result
Maybe it was a pen ( I don't see how)
But why not go to VAR ? Good game by the way
