Newcastle are going to be a tough team to beat this season, Rag fans should be concerned after watching them today.
Midfield was MIA for the last 30 mins of the 1st half. The defence was all over the show as a consequence. The question is , did the barcodes play well or did we play poorly ? , its the latter, our midfield and defence were miles off it for the majority of that game and we let Newcastle run at us at will , we lost control of the ball and the game.
Credit to the players for showing the spirit to spoil the Geordies day , and the last twenty minutes we abosolutely battered them , at 1-3 would have took a draw but in the end was disappointed we didnt win , we really turned the game around butPep must be fuming at the sloppiness of virtually every player.
It looked like the Barcodes players were doing a lap of honour at the end , going to all four corners of the stadium , glad we pissed on their chips in the end , could be a very valuable point at the end of these season
We showed why we are Champions today , we dont know when we are beaten.
I take it we have Foden as the new scapegoat now.lol.
I agree with Bernardo being central. He is at his best there.no
We need Bernardo central in my opinion as his energy and ability in tight spaces is second to none in our teams..
We need to get the midfielders to get closer to each other in these situations while at the same time we could be utuiling Haaland more by trying the through ball quicker to stretch their team...you dont have to do it too often before an opposing defence will start to drop which then follows the midfielders will or we exploit the gaps between those two lines.
Of course you could also add Phillips in there if you wish as he is a more physical player than Gundo for instance.
Or keep the fullback wide and not tuck them in to spread the pitch
There are numerous options
Foden is well fit to slot home from a tight angle however in the first few weeks, he could have squared twice to Haaland for tap-ins. I think at the point in the game today, it would have put us 2-0 and possibly closed out the match. Usually Phil's decision making is spot onI have. The square pass was definitely on. He had half a yard on the defender. We'll have to agree to disagree on it.
I must admit there is slight concern that when we have the belowno

He was in the air - no foot on the ground gill after the challenge. Two footed?
I hope that’s the story of the season because we will win many many gamesToo many comments pointing the finger at VAR and the ref. We let ourselves down and I hope we address that tragic defence sooner rather than later. Only reason we weren’t exposed in the previous two games is because the opposition didn’t have the balls to play football. If I’m a team preparing to play City, I’m looking at that and thinking “the only we way we get a result is if we have a real go instead of sitting back”.
Lucky to get a point today. Ake, who we were close to selling a few weeks ago, looks our best defender at the minute. Hope he’s back next week.
AbsolutelyThat fucker was always gona score after jack ripped the piss out of him. Sky sound gutted
Grealish is injured and not in the squad today.Just a thought… why wouldn’t Pep get some fresh legs in when Toon’s players were clearly knackered? It seems he doesn’t trust Grealish but I thought he could’ve given Dan Burn fits down the right flank for the last 10 or so. I felt we could’ve found the winner had Pep made a sub or two. Can’t be too unhappy with taking a point from being down 3-1 tho. Brilliant FK from Trippier. Newcastle are going to be a problem in the near future.
It was only 10 days ago you were predicting we were gonna get 95-100 points and win it at a canter being much better than anyone else…I think this iteration of the side might be the weakest since Pep built the 2017/18 side. The balance doesn’t feel good and we have no depth at all. The importance of the players that have left has been seriously undervalued by the fans IMO.
I still expect we’ll win the league because Liverpool don’t look up to it, but currently this side doesn’t get close to 17/18, 18/19 or 20/21 for me.
Yeah fair enough I thought we just looked more complacent than knackered in the first half.I thought we looked a bit leggy all match.
ThisThats simply not true imho. On the very few occasions Walker was in the right back position he dealt with St-M fine. He was in CM most the game so when St-M got the ball Walker was 10-20 yards behind him. He has no chance of catching him. Walker and stones’s performances were totally all on Pep today
On a lighter note, today I learned that Joelinton is his surname and everyone wasn't obsessed with calling him by his full name that I thought was Joe Linton.
