Newcastle Vs City post match thread

What we have is continuity. This group of players have grown together. They are now reaching their peak. So excited for this season. Can see now weaknesses with this squad. If we can avoid too many injuries success is almost inevitable.

Yaya looks way off from being fit, but even though he did have a pretty poor game, he did assist both goals.
Unfit ? Poor game ? You're kidding me.

I am not.
I base that opinion (well, it's really a fact) on a comparison between the Yaya of yesterday to the Yaya of last season. I have no doubt what so ever he'll become better and better, fitter in the next few weeks.

In edit: My mistake, I thought it was Yaya who assisted Kun, but it was Fernandinho.

Yaya's average number of passes per game last season was 71; he made 86 yesterday with a better pass completion than he averaged last. He also recovered a lot of loose balls. He was heavily involved in yesterday's game and the standard of his play was very high. He won't be at peak fitness because he had injury problems at the end of last season and a shortened preseason but he cannot be way off from being fit and participate in the game to the extent he did. Much of his play was in the middle third of the pitch but from every bloody part of it, he didn't just stand around in the centre circle.

Great result.
Some fantastic individual performances - Kolarov, Dzeko, Jovetic, Fernando.
We gave them far too many chances in the second half which may have been down to lack of fitness.YaYa in particular kept giving the ball away which led to some dangerous late Newcastle attacks.

Great start to the season against a team who were really up for it, I think Clichy put in an outstanding performance especially as he was playing out of his regular position.

Great result yesterday, other than a few hairy moments towards the end, looked in complete control

My only concern is the referees seem to dish out yellow cards to us for challenges that the opposition get away with, 5 yellows yesterday was way out of order in context of the type of game it was
Looking at Gareth Barry on Saturday, if he'd have still been playing for us he'd have been sent off

H edidnt have a bad game at all, but he was far from his best. Needs games and fitness and will just keep getting better which is great for us, scary for the rest. Just wish we had Liverpool on Sat or Sunday and not have to wait till Monday night now.

ii've seen a lot of comments slagging yaya off today, but i thought he did the job he was supposed to do. i think he was under instructions to it deeper this time round so we wouldn't be battered in the middle of the park like against arsenal.

No he didn't.

He played a big part in the first but technically the assist is Dzeko's and Fernandinho played the ball to Aguero for the second.

It was noticeable after the match that the Newcastle fans were really happy with their team's performance. I didn't hear any grumbles, they all seemed very optimistic about their prospects for the season. Hard to believe they'd lost 0-2 and quite a complement to City.

I appear to be he only one who thought we were a long way from our best yesterday, I thought we were extremely sloppy at times, gifting them possession, and we only played with tempo in very short bursts. Having said that, it was a great result and I expect us to get better and better.
