Next Captain

Pep Guardiola on the Manchester City captaincy: "We will choose the captain. We will wait until everyone is back and they will choose their captain."

Confirmed yo Mullock,he get's,a lot of stuff from the club,Dave was the captain in vinnies absence and pep loves him,it'll be him
Agree, most likely this. Vice captain will naturally be captain. Especially since David is a senior figure and well respected. Only issue I see is he won't play as many games this season I think, with kdb back.

Spanish Dave this season with Dinho as vice captain. Next season I want Laporte or Stones to step up and replace Vinnie as the voice at the back and naturally take the captaincy when Silva leaves.

Unpopular opinion time, I don’t think KDB would make a great captain. He gets too emotionally involved at times, particularly when things go against us and can get a bit petulant when frustrated. You fairly often see him berating his team mates, he needs somebody else on the pitch as captain to have a word and calm him down in those instances.

It'll be interesting who the players choose,no-one has the vinny style of leadership and his speeches in the locker room were immense,we have lost a true warrior

Why worry about it? In football the captain has to do little other than shake hands and toss a coin (occasionally hand over a pennant). Far more important is to have several leaders on the pitch and in the dressing room. Now one of these can the captain, but it doesn't have to be.

Vinny did a lot more than that,we have seen his speeches in the locker room and he lead everyone,he was awarrior that they all followed,he was our spokesman, always eloquent and calm,he kept everyone calm and focused in the big moments and in the run in,you need a new capt if yours doesn't do that for you

Kevin De Bruyne on captaincy:

"I don't know, obviously I was part of the captains the last two years so if the team wants me to be captain or the club, I will gladly accept it but that's something I think that everybody needs to talk about as a team, as a club. I think probably this will be talked about when everybody comes back. There's a lot of players missing so I think we need to do that together because it's a really important job that you need to do, not only on the pitch, but also off the pitch."

Whoever the new captain is they won't deliver those kind of team talks Kompany did. That stuff is natural. You can teach someone to say the words, but leaders are born.
