Neymar will be on the agenda when Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini holds talks with the club's new sporting director Txiki Begiristain this week.

Mancini covets the Brazilian ace more than any player in the world and sent his most trusted aide Attilio Lombardo on several scouting trips to South America to watch him.

But there is confusion over the 20-year-old Santos striker's future, with big political pressure in Brazil to keep him in the country until they host the 2014 World Cup.

There have also been claims in Spain that Barcelona have paid a large down-payment to secure his signing.

It has left Mancini confused over whether City have a chance to sign a player regarded as the successor to Lionel Messi and Cristiano as the world's best.

He hopes Begiristain, until recently sporting director at Barca, will provide some answers when he starts work at the Etihad this week.

'I have read that Barcelona have bought Neymar but I don't know if it is true,' said Mancini.

'But I am very happy to work now with the new sporting director because he may know situations that I don't, and we can move very quickly regarding some players.

'If we work well in the next three or four years, Manchester City can be very strong.'

Mancini will want to see action in the January transfer window regardless of whether Neymar is available.

City have one point from three Champions League games so far and face Ajax on Tuesday desperate for a win.

Daily Fail. It's a pure tabloid concoction.

The Rags were supposed to have been in for him with £30 mil in the summer. Santos denied any contact with the Rags and have had no talk regarding Neymar's transfer to the Rags.

Neymar will stay in Brazil until the 2014 WC.

He scored hat-trick yesterday so DF decides to write an article about City wanting him.

BS.

And this is how the match report starting there:

An awkward night in the East End of London will pale in comparison to the mission facing Roberto Mancini in Manchester on Tuesday.

For the second consecutive season, he is presented with the prospect of the team he has assembled on Abu Dhabi petro-dollars being eliminated from the Champions League in the group stages. Victory against Ajax on Tuesday is an absolute necessity.

Even then, the odds of survival seem heavily stacked against Manchester City. After Ajax, Mancini will have to conjure further wins over Real Madrid at home and against Borussia Dortmund in Germany — then trust that other results in the group fall favourable.

Fuck all with West Ham match for half a page.

Is he better than Hazard ?

Completely impossible to judge based on the fact they've played football in completely different hemispheres. Similar ability and potential though, most would probably vote that Neymar shades it.

I don't want Neymar, but a signing of his calibre should be what we are looking at.
