Neymar

The bigger the beast...

FFP for UEFA is a long-term investment.
Yes but what if, as mentioned, other clubs jump on board offering silly money to Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappe. Where do UEFA draw the line and wouldn't they rather swallow their pride rather than risk a rival competition emerging?

Even in today's world of mega rich players I would find it very difficult to believe that even Neymar after only a few seasons in Spain has amassed sufficient money to put nearly £200M down on the desk.

this is my thinking maybe barca don't hold full contract and a 3rd party ownership and have the bigger share in neymar and its a smaller fee to buy out from barca this would make sense in a buying himself out and not having PSG paying the buyout clause

If we went for Mbappe now think it would cause a total meltdown of the cartel, hope we do.

Depends if they break FFP.

The first two players you mention don't have release clauses and Mbappe is likely to be funded by clubs who can afford it through their own legitimately generated revenues.

99% of Europe's elite fully support FFP.

I dont know what the pots are for the CL draw but i bet a pound to a penny if we can get PSG we fucking will.

Not in the least bit worried. We have much the better team, overall, at this point, even with them getting Neymar, and yes, even if we don't get Alexis. If we do get the latter we will probably smash them. That's my sober — in every sense of the word — evaluation.

Not quite, as Mbappe isn't at one of those teams.

We've taken many players they've wanted in recent years, De Bruyne, Mendy, Bernardo Silva and Jesus.

PSG are taking something they have.

They'e been punished before, just like us, they'll be fully aware of ffp. Back then it was a new thing and was worth the potential punishment to establish themselves as a force. Now it is a different story entirely, they're established already and the punishment would be more severe, they wouldn't put together this package if they couldn't afford it and fall in line with FFP, they're not amateurs.

They've yet to spend any money this summer, one signing offset by one departure for near enough the same fee with Alves their only other signing so far. I don't know why people think they can't afford it, we've spent more this summer, it's just because it's on one player. If we had not bought anyone this summer and instead put in a "£300 million bid for Messi, we'd get the same kind of stupid reaction. Even if they were struggling to afford it, they've got many sellable assets. They could go and flog Aurier to United tomorrow and get about £60 million from them clowns. They've got Di Maria, Draxler, Lucas Moura, Pastore and probably others that play in a similar position to Neymar, at least one of them will surely be sold to make room too which will make a sizeable dent into the Neymar fee too.

Its not the club he's at its the amout he would cost, the two ffp cheats splashing the cash.

If Neymar is buying out his own contract and PSG get him for free, does this mean Pogba is still the world's most expensive player? :-)

True. I suppose the most likely clubs to fall foul of ffp would be ourselves and PSG, after all we're the reason for its existence. I'd be surprised if they fail anyway and I expect Neymar and his advisers have been given assurances.

What would it cost him to buy out his own contract? Would it be the value of his release clause or is a buy out worked out on a different metric.

€222MN but allegedly he will receive €300MN from Qatar Sports Investment to be an ambassador for the 2022 World Cup. PSG get him for free and Neymar pockets the rest.

Sports Illustrated is reporting La Liga is going to block the move. Not sure they have the power to do that but this is going to get real interesting.
