You really do like comparing Apples and Oranges don't you?I'd rather get Payet.
If I wanted an attacking player and age was not an issue then yes, I would try and get Payet (29).
If I wanted a player to dramatically improve the team's defending then Kante is the man.

That still leaves us Gundogan, Fernandinho plus last season's dross for another season.
Many of our fans and sadly it seems Tciki are grossly ignorant of our midfield woes.
We need Gundogan, Fernandinho plus at least 3 more of their quality.
No team has 5 midfield players of that quality. We'll add one more and it won't be Kante.

Would love Kante. Think he'd be an unbelievable addition to our midfield. A bit baffled why we aren't pushing hard for him considering his release clause.

Me too, it's not even like he is a Gareth Barry type who you only really appreciate when you see the game live, not sure what we are looking for if he cannot be seen as an answer to our rocky defensive midfield.

I suppose for the moment we just have to wait it out and see what the plan is in midfield.

I've definitely seen united linked with him at various points in the English media although as you say more of the Kante stories have been about Chelsea and Arsenal. I could see Matic to united and Kante to Chelsea. No idea why we seemingly aren't linked with Kante, he'd be a fantastic signing, one of probably only two players I would be interested in from Leicester.No links.
In England it's been Chelsea and Arsenal.

French media have been saying since the season ended the four clubs in for Kante are PSG, City, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

There is certainly a bit of Busquets and Makelele in his game and I noticed last night that his passing ability is better than I thought.
He is by far the most superior DM in the PL and having his work rate in our side would be a huge upgrade.
IMO he is the midfielder we need and if he has got a relatively low release clause then it is a no brainer. Signing Kante for £30 million is better value for money than Pogba at £80 million.

I said he has a bit of Busquets in his game, not that they are identical players.
Busquets is the best in the world at intercepting the ball and recycling possession, something which Kante is also very good at. Based on their positional play, Busquets is in another league to Kante, however Kante's work rate allows him to cover more ground.

Bayern do, Barcelona do, both Madrids do. Juventus do.
Fuck me even Liverpool, Arsenal & United have 5 or 6 international centre mids.
Last year we had Toure, Fernando, Delph and Fernandinho.
Delph and Fernando aren't up to it at the highest level. Toure isn't anymore and going.
So that leaves us with two of the required standard. Plus an additional signing.
Leaving us three players of required ability.
One with injury issues, one in his 30's and a 3rd yet to be named.
That won't be good enough.

I don't see it.
I've always been brought up thinking that the best DMs are the ones you 'don't notice' - because their reading of the game was such that they weren't teararsing around the midfield sliding in and winning balls, they were in the right place to intercept. Kante seems to get away with a lot because of his engine and his pace.
