the people spouting the utter shit throughout this thread won’t be aware that nhs workers have had 4 consecutive pay increases over and above inflation over the previous 4 years. The last one being 4.4 percent pre covid. Never happened at that scale under the last labour government at any stage. All by this “nasty Tory government” The current estimate gap between private sector pay and public sector pay is 11.5 percent. Sheep.

Not every nurse saw pay increases as much as that. My wife had a 6.5% increase over 3 years - 1.7% in each of the last two years.
The increase depended on whereabouts on your banding you were. So more experienced staff at the top of their bands got smaller increases than nurses who were working their way up through their banding as they gained experience, training and took on extra responsibilities.

And this 6.5% was after a squeeze on wages from 2010-2017.

They may deserve it but they (Covid the exception) went into the job eyes open.. It’s a vocation, more than just a job like the forces so the salary could not have been the driving force...

No one is denying that such role's are a vocation,but that doesn't mean these people,the backbone of our country.....should be taken advantage of.As for 'the eyes wide open' comment.....no matter how aware you are,or think you ae,no one can prepare you for the relentless pressures you face.

The services have lost many good people to other industries over the past 10 years because of working conditions,that should never have been allowed to happen.

We should be more concerned about the huge number of people who will be unemployed when furlough ends. The country is bankrupt in all but name, they should be grateful they're getting 1%.

Never read as much shit in my life. This gap will have widened this year. The private sector has been decimated. Of course nurses deserve good pay that is why they have had a rise when so many across the county have seen income plummet And the government tax Intake will never have been lower and before alll the attacks start my daughter is a trainee nurse.
