There is every need when excellent,experienced staff are leaving.

I agree that is needs to be distributed more fairly. I disagree that distributing it more fairly means giving rises to the NHS staff who are on incremental rises every year already. Maybe we should look at distributing some of it to those in the private sector who have had no pay increases (and even in some cases decreases) for years.

What this Govt. has done so succesfully with the help of its friends in the predominatly right wing media is drive a wedge between workers. A worker is a worker. I dont care what they do, they graft. The mindless argument between private anyour wages are lessd public sector workers has only aided the Govt. in its ability to make cuts and divide workers in the face of those cuts. Much of what is reported in the right wing press is just fucking nonsense but it adds to feelings of injustice.

The Tories stated they wanted to shrink the public sector as they had too because of the need to bring down the deficit. They have slashed and burned public services with another announcement this week that Manchester will have to lose another 500 police.


The Tories have used the Bank crash of 2008 to create there idealistic Neo Liberal state that has limited government, small tax, minimal inteference and an economy based on the wishes of what big business want, because big business fund the Tory party.


Public service has always in my lifetime been seen as an honourable thing, you may be paid less but your pension may be better and it was an honourable thing to do. You did your bit for your country not some namless big business conglomerate who could not give two fucks about this country but was only after profit.


And the Tories have done a great job......workers arguing workers whilst the rich laugh all the way to there Cayman Islands account

At least 40 percent of NHS staff don't get the increment rises.

Those that do have to show periodically that they have increased their competence and value to the NHS. What matters is the rate for the job and nurses could earn more by signing up to private agencies, I'm afraid.

Don't fall for the Private Sector Good / Public Sector bad mantra (as Rascal explained).

If you can't manage the above then come along to the Harrogate Bluesbfor for further discussion.

If you don't like your job you should quit and move on to something better.

There'll be someone else to take your place soon enough.

NHS staff are replaceable like all other workers.

But you won't quit. You'll look at the jobs, wages, pensions and other benefits available to a person of your skills and realise that the NHS is easily your best bet.

So stop whining.

Why should I quit it, I've worked hard to get where I am? And if I quit where would I go, mates have gone to the private sector only to find that the equipment is very poor. That's okay if your job is making cardboard boxes, but stressful if your defib isn't workingon a cardiac arrest. Would you pat a paramedic on the back if his/her defib didn't shock your family?

I know that you're just asking questions, thats fine, but do you know anything about being a front line servant to the masses on medical grounds?

have to agree with urmston's comments on this one yes the NHS is vitally important but there isnt a good economic reason for giving this 1% rise across the board


How about trained staff leaving. Are you not the least bit worried that you family may be treated by hired staff with poor training?

Also its not just about a 1% rise, it's about all the other cuts that happen, from training to cutting meal breaks.

I'll challenge anyone on here who says I'm not worth 1% after 3 year of nothing but cuts.
